Hello All,

I will Celebrate my 2nd week post-op tomorrow. As of last Friday May 25th, I had lost a total of 28 lbs (17 lbs 1 week pre-op and 11 lbs 1 week post-op). I doubt that I have lost much at all during this past week because since the swelling has gone down, I don't feel like I have much of a restriction at all and I know I've been eating more than I should. I'm not due for my first fill for at least another 3 to 4 weeks.

Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself because I would imagine I will be hanging around here a lot in order to benefit from the veteran's experiences.

Have a good one,

Hammer

So being that June 1 is tomorrow I thought I would start a June challenge. There are those waiting to be banded (me june 27th) and those already banded so I am sure results will vary. However the challenge is to walk/run/jog - 40 miles over the next month. Additionally the weightloss challenge will be to lose a min of 2 lbs a week. If you lose 10 in the first week it doesn't necessarily mean you are off the hook for the other 3. The goal would be to have weightloss in every week of the month. Who's in?

It is weird but even 1/2 cc can make the difference between getting liquids down or not. My first fill was similiar to yours but just go with it and on the second one he will probably get it tuned in. This last fill was so tight that I still can't gulp liquids or I get it back and I have to eat really slow or else it comes back up. My doctor uses fluroscope to adjust. This last fill has lasted two months and I'm still pretty tight.

Thanks Bigdaddynomo for the response. Follow-on question if I may, how is it that I can not drink and keep down two ounces of Water but I am suppose to be anle to eat 5 ounces of food? I guess i still do not understand how the pouch works.

Thanks

Dave

Woohoo the weight is starting to come off again ! I know I have lost a lot so far so I shouldn't complain but I was getting nervous because I had a stall for over a week with no weight loss. It was weird because as soon as I started to increase my walking to 2 plus miles a day the weight stopped. May be because of muscle was replacing fat. I think it may have been caloric intake though. I was eating around 400 a day and have recently increased it over 600 the passed couple days and I weighed myself this morning and was around 3 lbs lighter :o . I was happy to see the scale move again !

Thanks bro ! :o I just got a visual of a speedo lol. Don't worry man the liquid isn't that bad. The hardest is the first few days and after that its smooth sailing. What are you taking for the liquid? I used the Medifast.

Hi all,

I have been banded since 5/18/07 and the first couple of weeks I was ok and didn't have much of an appetite, but now I'm beginning to be just as hungry as I was before the procedure, I'm quite sure I can't eat as much, but I am as hungry as before (I also have no trouble eating any kind of food). I haven't been in for my first fill yet and I hope that's what will make the difference. Has anyone else felt this way after their procedure?

BigJake - EAS Carb Control is 110 calories and is high in protien 17gr. I think it tastes great (chocolate). I have tried numerous protien drinks that are just plain nasty. It is available at almost any megamart, costco, or bj's. You can also try Unjury. Tastes good but only available online so not super convenient. Also you have to mix it and not all the flavors are good.

Chris in NJ - 600 calories - man you are staving yourself. Be really carefull. 800 calories is the absolute min a nutritionist will tell you to eat. You should also be striving for 60gr of protien a day as well. Despite increasing your caloric intake - you are probably causing your body to think it is starving and subsequently it isnt burning off the calories like it should. My nutritionist requires that i eat between 1100-1200 cals a day with 60 gr of protien for just that reason. On less than 800 calories you will begin to lose hair, muscle tissue before fat and your skin will start to look like leather. be careful

By the way guys - Despite that my dr saying golf isnt really exercise. Walking 18 holes saturday in 85 degree weather w/ 95% humidity, that was a workout. Hope you all are getting out and exercising!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
