Aw guys! I remember those days! Just reading what you guys wrote brings me back...

Like I said even though I was warned about the natural depression it didn't make it a lot easier when I was in the thick of it. I was lucky because my husband was prepared for it to. And well lets just say he's a patient man :P

Wags yes how does one go to the movies? Enjoy a birthday party? Christmas? OMG thanksgiving?

They all conjure up food to me. It takes a long time to not associate birthday with cake.

Not that you can't have a piece but if you are like me that was the MAIN thing :P

Also for the most part everyone around you will still associate gatherings with food. We can't change that. The further out I get the more at ease I have become with it.

Sometimes people eat in front of me. And I don't partake if I'm not hungry why should I?

For instance yesterday after a bike ride, my husband and I stopped at a little cafe for coffee

He saw giant muffins and wanted one but wasn't going to because of me... I assured him it was ok, and you know what? it was! Because I wasn't hungry right then. I realized just because there is food and someone else is hungry it doesn't mean I have to eat! Simple I know but I'm a little slow on the uptake. :D

Thank you red bean and Laura!

You are right! food WAS the MAIN thing. I just have to find some new main things. I'm searching, but it's a process. I really love the support here. I have tried to explain this to my husband. He is sweet, but he can't understand it because he's not wired that way.

I remember how depressed and lost I felt! I knew I couldn't go back, so I resolved to try my best and to make the best of it for 6 months, and then I would figure something out from there. It turns out I didn't need 6 months to adjust and realize vsg was the best thing for me. So I would advise to just keep putting one foot in front of the other for now - things will come together in their own time. It really does get much, much better!

I feel like I'm having a hard time transitioning from my addiction to food no food. I feel left out of a lot of situations where people are having dinner. I feel like I've made a mistake. I feel like my coping skills have been taken away. I know it's only been a couple weeks but I'm having a really hard time. I'm just hoping that I made the right decision too late now.i cry a lot and I just need to know that I won't feel like this forever.....

My doc started me on antidepressants before surgery...I do have a history of depression and we were being proactive. My doc and the PA's in the office had NUMEROUS talks with me about how it is very easy to get depressed after weight loss surgery.....or become addicted to something else. Maybe you should get started on something. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
