I have a Mirena IUD in and was wondering if I'll have to remove it for surgery. Did anybody do there surgery with the Mirena in place? Did it make a difference?

I have mirena. They did ask what type of birth control I used I told them and they it was fine it never got taken out. I still have the same one in, getting it replaced next year. No problems at all with it and best yet no pregnancies.

I have the Mirena & it stayed in. They knew it was there & said it would be no problem at all.

I had the Mirena in place during my sleeve surgery in July. It wasn't an issue. My only complaint and it's super minor. I've actually had 2 periods since my surgery!!! I haven't had a period in over a year with the Mirena. To be fair, by period I am speaking of heavy spotting for 2-3 days! Each month. :P

I got my mirena put in on Sept 4th and got sleeved on Sept 17th. No problems for me!

My doctor wouldn't allow any form of birth control or IUD three to four weeks before surgery because the increased estrogen could cause blod clots. Now, if Mirena is one of those that doesn't contain hormones or estrogen of any sort, you should be fine. My doctor is a bit on the conservative side, I've observed.

Same here! I've had mine since 2010 and was sleeved in 2012.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
