Feeling somewhat defeated...

Recommended Posts

Today I had 3 Appts ( medical director - NUT and exercise physiologist). A few weeks ago i had an upper GI. It showed a hiatal hernia and intermittent reflux. Mind you I have never had heartburn. The medical director now wants me to see their something something specialist because this may impact my surgery. The hernia is not the issue - it is the reflux. Has anyone had this issue and did they still proceed with your surgery? Kinda freaking here!

On a good note - I lost 12 pounds (15 to go for goal of surgery) and the ex person was impressed w/ my "walk" test!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU

I have both the hiatal hernia and asymptomatic reflux. My physician had me take omeprazole by prescription for 2 weeks prior to the surgery and 3 months after. It did not change my date or insurance submittal. Best of luck on your journey.

Weird. I have had horrible reflux most of my life and nothing came up on the upper GI.

I had a hiatal hernia and no symptoms. It was no problem for surgery. Good luck to you!

I have gerd and take protonix twice daily. My doctor said since its totally under control I'm definitely a "go" for surgery.

I have gerd and I am taking omprezole 40 mg and today I say my surgeon and now he wants a endoscope test. I'm still having slot of problems with reflux and have a surgery date of oct 5 but today he mentioned that the sleeve may make it worse and maybe change surgery to gastric bypass! I'm afraid of having a bypass it seems really extreme for someone like me who has 70 lbs to lose.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
