Has anyone experienced dry mouth at night? I wake up and feel like I'm thirsting to death! I keep Water by my bed but doesn't seem to helping at all. I don't experience it during the day but as soon as I go to sleep I experience this. I'm losing sleep over this. Waking up every 2 hours to get a drink of water.

OMGosh...I've been the same way. For the first few days after surgery I couldn't keep dry mouth under control. I started sleeping with a sugar free cough drop in my cheek and sipped every couple of hours on Water through the night.

I hope yours gets better soon as it is a miserable feeling.

I found that Water did not help either...but! I mix 1/2 and 1/2 G2 Gatorade together and leave that by my bed and it helps a lot..Try it!!!

You might have turned into a mouth breather at night. Maybe try getting once of those air purifiers, or even possible a Water vapor system that helps misted the air. There are also sprays that you can get for dry mouth. Health care providers for the elderly use these often, because they sometimes have a hard time producing saliva, and this helps stimulate making more. Good luck!

Sounds like you're dehydrated. Try drinking more Water mixed with any sport drink.

I love you guys for answering so quickly today! This site is awesome. Anytime anyone has a question someone can share their experience or knowledge!

Thank you for answering - you've answered my concern and fear this was the case. I've increased my intake of liquids today and trying really hard to get it in. I will try the G2 1/2 and 1/2.

Thanks again!!!! :D

I had this problem for weeks after surgery (it has gotten much better) and I agree with the person who is using sugar-free cough drops - they really came in handy for me. I still carry a few in my pocket when I walk.

Well I still have dry mouth! Ugggghhh! Cough drops work at night but during the day it's a battle. Good news not dehydrated. I have found a mouth wash that I'm doing and that helps but not solving my problem. I found out that artificial sweeteners are the main issues. I was drinking Powerade zero like crazy to get the electrolytes and it was defeating the purpose. It was actually making it worse. This includes the sugar free Jello and pudding. So now I'm drinking infused Water that I'm making myself and hope that between this and the mouthwash I will overcome.

The dry mouth has affected my eating as well. The taste of all foods have changed so my caloric intake has been very small. If there is hardly taste to the food I can handle it.

Upside is I'm down 51 lbs and I was sleeved on 8/20. I just can't wait to get back on track and feel normal again! Or should I rephrase that as "Sleeve Normal" again! :)

Interesting. I've been having the same problem. I know I'm not drinking enought. I'm lucky to get 32 oz in above any fruit or shakes I have in a day. But I don't use artificial sweeteners except for a bit of stevia in in tea in the morning. Biotene has a product that you can use, but it's funky.

Biotene mouth spray didn't really help as much as I had hoped.

If you think it may be the artificial sweeteners check the sugar-free cough drops - they probably contain artificial sweeteners too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
