March 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I have a question.. If you're cruising a long losing weight, maybe even before your first fill, will the Dr. not fill you as long as you continue to do well? Does he get feedback from you on what you're eating? Getting over filled sounds really sucky. I'm not a snacker or a junk food person...more of a big portion kind of guy. Before you had a fill, could you sit down and eat a whole porterhouse with all of the fixins?

Also, I've got this pretty nasty after taste in my mouth and my wife says my breath stinks now. Maybe has something to do with slimfast shakes or Soup. Anyway, it's gross and makes me not want to eat at all anyway... I think I barely squeezed in 500 calories today.

Ew! I have the nasty taste too! I wish it would go away. Blegh! Guess I'll have it at least another week and a half til regular foods for it to be gone.

All Done!!! Banded yesterday. Not as bad as I thourgh I was going to feel. Bad some true trailor trash b***h and her daughter in my room so I didn't get a lot of sleep. Still sore but seem to be getting better.

Going back to my nap now....z.z.z.z.z.z..

Speaking of cravings...someone on tv mentioned a slice of cheese pizza with bologna on it... THAT and a grilled hot dog is really what I'd love to eat.

As it is I'm sip sip sipping my days away trying to get all my liquids down. I don't know how you guys are doing it. I had about 40 oz of Water yesterday and 6 or 7 sips of chicken broth. ICK! Tonight I'm on full liquids and will be tackling a Protein Shake and an applesauce if I can mangage.

Would love to hear how the new banders are dealing w/getting all their liquids.

Hi Pam. Oh I've been trying with the liquids. I did try the crystal light green tea to go when I was experimenting pre-surgery but that stuff was pretty horrible. I do have propel so there's at least some flavor in there.

I was a little worried Tuesday when I went to the bathroom and there was blood in the toilet. Turned out to be my period. LOL ...guess it was better that it came Tuesday instead of Monday, the day of my surgery. Still though I have pretty bad cramps and that with the pain of the surgery it is a little much.

I appreciate your advice and will keep plugging away. Thanks!! Virginia

I'm trying my best to get all my liquids in. The intense pain in my shoulder kills me whenever I try to do a little "catch-up" from drinking too fast.

I work all day and can't seem to get in more than 20-30 oz.

I am having a really hard time figuring out a schedule to all this.

I swear the intense pain in your shoulder will go away if you use a heating pad on it!! We all have gone through it and it will come and go for about 1 week, but if you use a heating pad it makes it go away faster!!!!

You know, they did not cathiter me when I went for surgery, and apparently I "pee'd" when I woke up from surgery. I did not even understand what they were doing and why they were changing my sheets "because they were wet" until a couple hours after I woke up and was more clear. So apparently your bladder still works while under sedation. LOL!

I've never been cath'ed so I'm pretty nervous about that. If they do it, I really hope they do it while I'm knocked out. :-(

My Dr. does not cath typically.

But I have ben cath'd before and it does not hurt, just a little pressure like you have to pee.

Not a big deal, you should not worry about that one, and I don't believe they would cath you unless you were already sedated.:notagree

momlambert, so sorry to hear about your father. Do lots of walking, and sleep with a heating pad. It helps during awake hours and sleep times. The walking helped me, even with the soreness. Part of your feeling bad is the anesthesia. The other is your emotional state. I didn't feel great but not too bad either by the 3rd day. Still sore, but seemed like it helped by moving about. I was the sorest after laying or sleeping, then having to get up. You may get tired going to see your dad but I think you are going to be exhausted by staying home worrying about your family situation. If you go, explain that you aren't feeling well and don't stay too long. Just listen to your body, it will help you make the right decision. Once again, so sorry about your dad. Please keep us posted.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
