Eating soft foods!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am curious to know if anyone started soft foods at the end of 2 weeks. All my literature says to wait until the end of 3 weeks, but my Surgeon says it is ok to start at the end 2 weeks. I am at 2 weeks now and wanted to eat some fat free retried Beans. Any thoughts??

My surgeon starting me on soft foods after a week and I didn't have any problems. His advice - if it hurts, don't eat it. I've been eating soft meats and lots of dairy. Just had my month appointment and they were happy. Good luck!

Refried Beans are okay. Especially if you whip 'em through the food processor a little bit. However, don't overdo it on the beans because of course they can be gassy.

I am 17 days post op and on exactly the 14th day....I started soft foods! :) Of course I checked with my NUT, she said as long as I have met my daily Water and Protein goals I'm ok to move on! I started with cottage cheese and egg whites. I'm waiting on the Beans just because I'm not sure how "Pete" will accept it. So far I've also had mashed potatoes, turkey chili, tilapia, egg whites and Greek yogurt and not a lot of it. 2-3 Tbls each. However, I did notice that when I had the fish it really didn't take long to feel full. I'm still learning what "full" really means for "Pete" and me, but so far I've been able to keep everything down. I also drink 2-3 Protein Drinks a day as well. Need to keep the protein up!! I'd say if it's ok with your Doc. Go for it...and take it slow.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
