Everyone is different. I have been able to take 8oz of Water or more in a sitting (over 5-10min) since 7 days post op. shakes are slower, 11oz in an hour. I can't gulp (made the mistake once, it won't happen again) I tolerate all water temps. My surgeon and nutritionist and nurse seemed more pleased with my water intake than anything. Day 10 post op I took in 108oz of water and realized I was using water as food. I've stuck with 65oz since and between 30 min before, 60 after, 5 mini meals a day, 65 is pushing it.

I am almost three weeks out and have no trouble getting 64 ounces or more every day. Water goes down easy and has pretty much since day three.

I set a goal of 80 oz a day & have not had a problem meeting that since 3 days post-op. Of course, I'm still on Clear Liquids + Protein Shakes for another week. I just keep a 16 oz bottle of liquid next to me all day & find I now pick it up & take a couple of swallows frequently without even thinking about it. It's become a habit, and a good one!

Totally normal. A lot of it depends on how much your sleeve swells after the surgery and how soon the swelling goes down. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago, but when I was 1 week post-surgery I could drink a 16 oz bottle of Water in about 15 minutes.

I was able to drink 8oz at about 2 weeks out? For peace of mind, call your doctor.

Can I ask what exactly happened when you gulped? I inadvertently gulped a big drink of water 2 hours ago. It was painful for a second but there's been a lump in my chest every since. Getting worried.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
