AUGUST Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow August Bandsters! How about an update!

What was your surgery date?

How much have you lost?

How many fills have you had?

My date was Aug. 24, 2006

I've only lost 30 pounds :cry

I've had 3 fills (4th one is scheduled next Monday), and I still only have a tiny bit of restriction. I haven't been able to exercise because I'm taking care of my sick parents and working full time. I am walking today! It' a start!!!

Can't wait to hear from the rest of you!!

I am an August Bandster!! Banded August 22, 2006. I have lost 28 lbs to date. A bit slower than I had hoped, but I am still pleased. I have 37 lbs to go.

I was beginning to think there were no August bandsters either!!

I was banded mid August '06. I've lost about 60 lbs. I feel like I've plateaued in the past couple months. I've had about 4-5 fills, and I doubt my doc will give me anymore. Though, I'd like to go a bit tighter. I had an incident where I had to go to the hospital. If I don't chew well enough, I don't throw up. I can't. I just get intense pressure and pain, and that time it didn't go away for over 3 hours. I eventually passed it on my own, but it was quite a scare.

I was banded on Aug 15th, and have had 4 fills. At this time, I've lost 63 pounds. Last fill made me a little tight, might have .25cc taken back out. I feel, also, that it may be time for a behavioral adjustment. Everyone keep up the great work.

I was banded on Aug 4, 2007. I've lost 35 lbs. My weight loss was slow at the beginning because it took me until Christmas to figure out that I needed to be aggressive and get fills until I'm restricted enough to lose weight at a respectable pace. I've lost 25lbs. since Christmas. I'm looking great, everyone is noticing.

This band has changed my life. I'm so much healthier, have so much energy and feel very optimistic about my life. Weight was always the one thing holding me back. I'm a compulsive overeater. The band has "cured" that, and it's frightening sometimes because my buddy (food) is gone. I've put my chin up and moved on from food now. And I'm happier than I've ever been. I strict with myself and keep my band pretty tight, and I'm losing. The LAP BAND is the best gift I've ever given myself or my family. LIFE IS GREAT !!

I'm so so very glad to hear from my fellow August bandsters!! We must be a small group! I've hit the 50 pound mark. I didn't get a really good fill until November, and I have finally been able to start exercising. It has made a big difference!! I go Wednesday for another fill (#5). The doc told me that as we lose visceral fat, the band needs to be tightened! People are FINALLY starting to notice my weight loss....... I've gone from a tight size 22 to a size 16! Woo hooo!!!!!!

I was banded August 25th, 2006. I have lost 67 lbs so far, and I had one fill back in December, but it was taken out a few months back. I am still losing though, so I'm not worried about it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
