Okay. It's been 24 hours since I got my sleeve! My arms look like human pincushions, and I'm still on and off nauseous. The pain was actually a lot worse than I expected it to be, but already today as opposed to yesterday it's so much better, is improving by the hour. I'm really trying hard to push myself, trying to move around as much as possible, use the incentive spirometer. I was unable to pee after surgery yesterday, that was a big bummer and I had to have a catheter inserted and removed- but now I'm finally able to go on my own. My surgeon pulled the NGT this morning (it drained old blood all last night) and now I'm just waiting for the leak test... If all goes well I'll be starting sips of Water soon! My belly is grumbling big time- definitely hungry, but I'm wicked nervous to put anything in it so soon... I guess I have to start sometime though! If there is one thing I have learned in the past 24hrs is that although this is NOT easy, I am sososo happy and excited for my second chance :) sending love and prayers to my fellow October sleeves, wouldn't mind some being sent back this way as well!

Congratulations!!!! Keep in Touch

October 29th. I started 2 week pre-op diet yesterday. Excited and anxious for the next step in this journey :-)

My surgery is on the 28th. Started 2weeks Protein Shakes on Monday. Yesterday had headaches and the shakes which I presume was from carb and caffeine withdrawal. Was much better today and hoping tomorrow will be even better. I know what you mean about being ready to move to that next step. Good luck!

Congratulations!!!! Keep in Touch

Thanks! Today has had its fair share of ups and downs... Have still been having major issues trying to void, usually takes a good 20-30min before I can go, and sometimes even after that I still can't! Thankfully they have not had to straight cath (put a catheter in my bladder obtain the pee ) me again! Switched my morphine PCA to another medication called Dilaudid, stronger and works better, but now I'm so itchy!!! The stuff works great except when I fall asleep and forget to press button! Had a leak test this morning which I passed yay! Basically they had me drink some nasty barium contrast while being filmed under fluoroscopy... It showed that my staple line is intact and permitted me to start taking sips of Water (1oz per HR). Still not really that hungry though, I think because I'm still having a good amount of pain... Anyone else have surgery on the 15th with a lot of pain still?! I was hoping to be discharged in the morning, but I don't think that will happen until Friday...

I'm not upset because I got a better secondary surgeon (for my cyst removal, dual procedure) my Bariatric Surgeon is pleased and so am I. 7 more days won't be so bad, better feeling comfy and safe. So to all my Oct 30th peeps...we got this!! I did all of my Pre-Op testing today and I have no Pre-Op diet so I'm ready..even bought me some new pillows today for when I come home. So Excited!!!!!!!

Surgery on monday.. started pre op Liquid Protein diet fri.. down 8.5lbs.. haven't cheated but Im a stylist and people bring Cookies and crap into the salon all day long. Very frustrating! I'm so hungry and tired but feeling much better than previous days. I'd kill for a cheeseburger :( hopefully that craving will go away soon... I'm past my sugar craving just want some real food. .. even if its blendarized! Favorite part of my day is when I get to take my vitamins.. I started the Bariatric Fusion chewables when I started pre op.. I get to chew them and they rast like candy! I wish I could eat the whole jar...oh well, back to my water! Can barely wait till Monday!

Ahh.bbq sauce... I can smell it LOL... good luck... eveyday I'm on this awful pre op diet I wake up in the morning hoping to be a size seven! I keep thinking about all the stuff I used to eat and I'm only getting like 500-600 calories now and shouldn't I just be skinny yet? That even sounds stupid to me... but whatever.. a girl can dream!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
