Today I drank 3 Protein Shakes and ate two small meals. Why then, am I more tired than I have been since my surgery 8/16? I also didnt go to work today for the first time since returning on Monday but by 8 pm my eyes were burning and by 9 I was in the bed, clearly I did not go to sleep but Im sure that will change very soon. Just thought it was very odd because this is the best I have done food wise since surgery.

You really need to give yourself and your body a break. You are a week out, you just had major surgery, your entire diet has changed, and despite your excellent loss so far, you are still very much overweight.

It is normal to be exhausted. I was exhausted through week 3 and just starting to feel completely normal at week 5/6 and I work from home so I can sit my fat ass on the couch anytime I want. I am also the boss, so I can take the whole day/week/month off if I want so I had far less of an excuse to be tired than you!

:P

Most of the posts that I've read on this topic seem to be the same trend as mine. Slow down, be patient with yourself and expect to be tired for the next few weeks. It WILL get better. Promise.

So, you had surgery on August 16th and you're eating food already??? That was only six days ago, you should be on liquids only still... right? Does your doc know that you're back at work already? My doc says 2weeks MINIMUM off work.

Maybe you're coming down with something; ie. cold etc. ???? Maybe you should notify your doctor and see what he says.

Oh! And I just read your latest blog entry? F that REQUIRED crap. I am three months out and I still can't eat what your NUT "requires". At five days out, it took me all day to finish one shake or one yogurt. Our fluids are more important, Protein will come.

Bet that beeyotch is one of those naturally skinny types. Hmph. Required my fat ass.

I try to get all the Protein in but seriously I can't I try but can't I'm still on post op liquid diet. I still have a week and a half to go. It's only been 9 days since surgery. I'm able to get Water in easily as an all day sipping thing but I'm staying hydrated...

My surgeon took me off work for 6 weeks

Lipstick Lady she is thin as a rail. I told my husband when I wanted to eat everything in the world, she was pissed now I dont want to eat anything at all and shes pissed. Shes skinny I dont know why shes so miserable all the time. Im not super upset that Im tired Im just surprised I thought I gave you all this Protein what more do you want from me? I think I may have been not knowing I was tired because when Im at work I kinda zone out and do what needs to be done. I will probably learn the truth after tomorrow which is the last day I have appearances this week.

Scottsgirl not real food but I am supposed to have 3 Protein Shakes with at least 20 grams of protein and 3 small meals (1/2 c cream Soup with milk, greek yogurt, broth with extra protein powder) per day. My first day I ate 1 Protein Shake and one popsicle (which I later learned was a liquid not a meal) today I had all 3 protein shakes for a total of 73g of protein and 1/2 c creamed chicken soup with milk and 1/2 a greek yogurt. I thought, oh they want you to stay home from yourself so you can eat all day. My surgeon said 6 weeks off but I am self employed because of my weight I havent had disability insurance so if I dont work (at least a little) I dont get paid. I am super taking it easy, not really taking new cases, and just going in to handle my cases and coming right back home so I have really been fine.

I get in about 30-40g of Protein a day and about 500 calories, MAX. I was sleeved 5/16.

Don't force it. Three shakes a day right now is nuts, much less everything else. You are probably exhausted from thinking about all that eating!

Can you find a new nut?

I am self employed, too, so I get the $$ thing. Relax, do your best, don't force it and get a good walk in every day. Movement gives me energy for some reason. A nicely paced walk, too. Not the speed race I imagine you will try for. I've got you pegged as a manic over achiever. No offense, it takes one to know one, after all...

Oh Lordy she sounds insane. My nut. Told me the goal is to eventually get to where I'm eating a specific amount of Protein and on a regular schedule... But she told me its not always easy at first it takes time...

I understand about getting paid it was my first worry.

It took me forever to find this post again. I may have been called a Type A in the past once or twice. I was walking at my normal pace, that of an attorney always late to court, but that calmed down quickly when I noticed I always spontaneously busted into never ending sweats. I have had an opportunity to evaluate now and I do think that feeling super tired seems to coincide with days I dont go to work. I think I have probably been tired and I just fail to notice when I have something else to do. Thanks for looking at the blog, it helps me deal with this whole process.

I think your right. When we are working and have to get things done we push past and ignore what our body is telling us. Then when we can rest it hits hard. It was week 9/10 before I honestly got all of my energy back and felt totally 100% again. I would have good days and really tired days. The good days I had to pace myself because it would go to hell real quick! Stay out of the heat that will sap your energy also. Hang in there and treat yourself to some quiet rest! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
