8 MONTHS OUT AND PREGNANT!

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I was sleeved 12/10/13, down a total of 98lbs including preop. I consider myself a slow loser but I'll take it over the alternative. I recently found out i am pregnant. About 5 weeks. I am so scared that I am going to stop losing. And I am so scared to gain. We were planning on waiting until next year to try figuring I would be at goal then. My dr also says to try to wait 12-18 months postop before. But it happens when it happens.

I guess I just want some info from ladies who have been in this boat. How did it go for you? Did you lose while pregnant, did you gain? How much did you lose before being pregnant and how much did you gain? Was there anything different that you wish you would of done while being pregnant?

I started a good prenatl pill that i take 3 times a day. Its nice that it doesnt make me sick. With my daughter the prenatals made me so sick. I am also taking Progesterone at night before bed. it makes me so sick. I get very dizzy, almost feel like i am drunk and i just have to go to sleep about 40 minutes after i take it.

Here's to a happy and healthy pregancy and baby!

Please note I'm not trying to be debbie downer about it, trust me i am very excited, i am just nervous. timing is off but i am embracing it!

thanks in advance to those that respond.

Congrats to you! If I get any info I will forward it to you. As far as Vitamins. I just switched to New chapter prenatal vitamins. They are a little pricey but supposed to be easy on your digestive track. So far I haven't had any problems with them. I also take B12, Calcium + vit d, coqu10, garlic, phytophanare & fish oil. I need to go get a folic acid pill as well.

Hey girl you and I were sleeved on the same day. I'm 12 weeks pregnant. Congrats! I'm in a 3lb bounce no real significant weight gain. Had really bad morning sickness that lasted all day. But getting better everyday! How many weeks are you?

My surgery was a bit before y'all, but I feel ya. Had mine 9/21/12 and had just creeped up to 127 lost, but now am holding steady for the last few weeks at 123 lost. I'm due 4-18-14. Haven't had any morning sickness yet, which I'm loving. Was wondering if it's normal not to have because of the sleeve...guess not.

Nice! We are due 2 days apart. Unless my OB changes it when I see him on the 20th.

Congrats to you!

Hello ladies. Congrats to all of you on your pregnancies ! I'm a band/sleeve revision and after I got the band, I lost 60lbs and got prego. My healthy, active band baby is now 4yo. Just wanted to let you know there are liquid prenatal products out there. My OB DR sent me to a hypothocary (sp?) which is a pharmacy that mixes it's own drugs. They were able to give me liquid prenatals that were so much easier to swallow than the horse pills that most prenatals resemble. Beware of the taste though...it takes a while to get used to but it made for a very healthy baby in the end so I was happy I did it that way. I also only gained 27lbs instead of the 80 lbs gained with my first baby. I pray for you all to have great pregnancies with healthy babies.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
