Dessert Alternatives?

Recommended Posts

Giving up Desserts entirely has been really stressing me out. Are there some desserts out there that we CAN have? Is sugar-free stuff allowed? What about frozen yogurt? Will I ever have a pastry again?

S/F popsicles are my go-to dessert now. I also bought the fudgesicles, 100 calories ones until I can find the S/F ones. S/F pudding isn't bad either. More people will chime in, but these things are getting me through my major sugar cravings and make me feel like I'm still getting a treat.

I actually eat frozen yogurt almost every night, I have used the beyer's Carbsmart ice creams in the past they are decent and you can easily work the numbers into most plans. Currently I actually tend to go to the sweet frog and get frozen yogurt, it's nice that you buy it by the oz so you can get just the right amount and if you use mfp the nutritional's are on there. I Have also used the Fiber one brownies they are only 90 calories and have 5 g of fiber. Good Luck.

I don't see anything wrong with taking 2-3 long, slow bites of anything you like as long as you stop there. I know I'm not going to deprive myself of foods I like, although it will be on rare occasions. I am only doing S/F right now because I am in the early stages, but I am totally anti-artificial sweeteners, especially aspartame, as it can harm you neurologically. My surgeon never said anything about no sweets after 3 months... yours? I think that's mostly to prevent dumping in bypass patients...?

I often eat Greek yogurt as a dessert. I mix it with Splenda and top with blueberries and Splenda. I microwave the blueberries till the juices run out. Love it and it's good for you. Other desserty but good for you things include Protein shakes and Protein Bars. I haven't tried the bars because I'm worried I'll like them too much.

As far as bad-for-you foods, I have them too. Just in more limited quantities.

My favorite guilt free desert is Jello Mousse Temptations with a dab of Cool Whip Free on top. It's perfect size when I need a chocolate fix!

Thank you so much you guys! I totally forgot about those sugar-free puddings in the grocery store. >.> And I love frozen yogurt and there's dozens of frozen yogurt places to go to in my area.

You can make a fantastic Protein Powder recipe called Protein Fluff.. It's like a mousse in texture. Also look at the Protein Pow app.. So many delicious recipes all made with various Protein powders. Anna Sward has a book out too but I find the app is great, as I move around a lot. On her website you can find recipes for protein crepes which you could fill with strawberries and Greek yoghurt etc. It's a brilliant way to use up protein powders as they taste quite different when you cook with them.

Protein Pow, thanks! I'll check it out.

Well, month 1 is over and I've been mostly getting by on sugar-free popsicles. Mostly... I still have a way to go.

Eating right toffee crunch ice cream bars... 80 calories and 11g carbs.

sugar free Jello with whipped cream.

sugar free popsicles

"Fun sized" candy bars if I need the calorie boost that day but these tend to give me a cold sweat that's not all that fun.

Also... arctic zero. YUM! Worth looking up.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
