Big drop in weight can increase risk for gall stiones

Recommended Posts

I already had gallstones so insisted they take it out at the same time. He wasn't thrilled but did it anyways. I think it's because they can't bill for two separate surgeries, sad but true.

Wow did the same dr do both procedures? My bariatric surgeon removed my gb. He used 2 of my old incisions and 1 in my belly button, so no new holes! Lol

I just found out today that I have gallstones- I have had a few attacks over the past two weeks, but mostly nausea 24/7. I am also having a swallow test in the morning because my surgeon thinks I might have a stricture as well. Definitely not what I wanted to hear, but it was a side effect that I was prepared for. I did not realize that there would be four more holes in my abdomen though :(

I had a different surgon do my gall bladder surgery. I was hoping that he would use some of the same incisions as my VSG surgeon but nope. I'm thinking that buckshot sounds like as good of an excuse as any lol :)

I had gallbladder issues before VSG but my doctor couldn't verify any issues at that time. The insurance won't pay to remove it unless they find proof of a problem. So I had my VSG on 5/22 and 3 weeks later I had gallbladder surgery. That SUCKED! My main symptom was nausea. I couldn't eat or drink without getting sick. Which doesn't work very well right after surgery. So I was getting dehydrated, etc. So they did all the tests and, of course, I had sludge in my gallbladder. My bariatric surgeon did the gallbladder surgery, but didn't use the same holes so I have 9 scars <_<

Had my swallow test today (man did that SUCK!) and the good news is that my sleeve is perfect- no strictures or leaks, and I have my gallbladder removal scheduled for Monday. I am a little frustrated to have to go back under anesthesia again in only 9 weeks, and to have to take more time off from work. But, I have been really suffering this past week with almost everything I eat, so it must be done.

Glad to hear your sleeve is doing great! Once you have that surgery you will feel like a new woman! Omneprazole was my savior until I had the surgery! I was on my way to the hospital for the 2nd severe attack and took this because the hospital gave it to me for the first attack and before I got there it kicked in and I went home! Best stuff ever!!

I'm having gallbladder issues and I'm hoping some of you with more experience can help me out. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post op and I had to go to the ER yesterday because of abdominal pain. They did some bloodwork and an ultrasound. The doc said I have sludge in my gallbladder and that eventually the sludge will turn into gallstones and I'll get my gallbladder removed then. Has anybody else had something similar happen? Did the pain from the sludge go away? How long after the sludge was discovered did you have your gallbladder removed? Is there anything I can do about the sludge pain? Because it really sucks and it's making it hard to sleep and exercise and work in my garden and eat and drink. Help!

When I lost over a hundred pounds years ago, I developed a lot of stones and had to get my gallbladder out. Still have phantom pains at times.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
