Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Recommended Posts

I actually had a really good week. My DH was out of town for a few days and then the weather turned bitterly cold here. Up here in Alberta,Canada it's been in the minus 20's over the last few days....not sure what the wind chill is. I haven't left my house for 4 days...lol. I went to my Doctor on Thursday for a fill and we collectively agreed that I would hold off on a fill. If I loosen up then he told me to come back.

The last month has involved a lot of reflection for me. For me, it's really important that I make the proper food choices....even when I know I could eat something else. At the end of all of this weight loss stuff...I really want to know that I did a lot of the hard work and that the band just helped me along the way.

I'm down 63 pounds in 7 months....based on my starting weight it isn't a huge amount but I sure am proud of myself. I showed my doc my food journals and talked to him about my mind set and he is really supportive of the choices that I make as long as I move the scale in the right direction. So I made a new commitment to myself. It every other dieting experience I've had....I always white knuckled it through....steering clear of everything 'bad'....until I would reach my breaking point and binge and then hate myself for 4 days. I know myself pretty good I think...right now when I have a piece of chocolate...I'm fine with one piece of chocolate and not 2 pounds of it. So damn it....if I want it...I'm going to have one piece. I'm not going to have a 'treat day' or anything like that but I'm also not going to fill my head with self hatred and loathing because I ate one little thing....ultimately that just seems to throw me into a pit of sadness and before I know it I've eaten waaaaay too much. My attitude towards food has changed in really profound ways for me...it's just food...it's just food...it's just food. It's not love or happiness or a friend or a confidant or a lover....it's just food. I spent a lifetime wishing that I could say that and really mean it.....I feel like I'm actually getting there now....slowly but surely.

Anyway enough rambling...I'm off to Ikea! I hope everyone has a really great weekend.....geeez I'm emotional these days...take care, keep going, have faith and be blessed.

Food yesterday.

B-cottage cheese and fruit

L-turkey pepperoni and rice cake with cheese

S-turkey pepperoni

S-sugar free Jello w/fat free cool whip

D-Small baked potato with chili and low fat sour cream

80 oz of Water

Thanks Time2Live, you really touched on a few things there, I remind myself too, that it's just food. That it will be there when I've gotten off most of this weight. I tend to go ahead and have that bowl of Cereal or sweet treat too, when I can't hold out any longer. I still feel bad about it but it is getting better, learning to have a healthier version of the treat that I want, plus drinking alot more Water. Thanks for the words of wisdom:) Congrats on your weight loss:clap2:

Ok, as expected I went overboard on my anniversary dinner...We had Red Lobster and I had shrimp galore and the top of one of their garlic butter biscuits...I think I am totally done for the week and feel like I am going to explode...Time for me to get back on track...I expect a little gain tomorrow so I am not going to go off the deep end cuz I already know its coming, but just how much is the question!!

water water water

Snack low carb yoguart 4oz

Supper:

2.5 oz turkey meat ball, 1 tbsp non fat mozerella

Nursiepooh don't stress, that's common for you weight to fluctuate. Your body has to adjust. Just a few eeks ago you were drinking very few calories and now you are drinking and eating so your body is happy to have these calories. Great job on joining the gym and walking. Keep up the Water and things should balance out and you will be on the losing side of the scale again. Patience :bored

Hey Avilla you are too cute. Congratulations on your anniversary:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:. You are doing an amazing job even if you do obses about the scale. I'm just jelous that I don't have one. Oh and I won't be able to weigh in tonight because we are getting some snow and sleet today.:angry

Kareyquilts great job on kicking that pleateu!! :clap2:

Turner24 WHAT!! 7 pounds AMAZING

Hey Sarg, lately I've been having a Protein Shake for dinner because whenever I eat a Protein dinner I stuffed for about 3-4 hours and am feeling quite uneasy, it's like I can't do anything but nurse my belly. :faint: Which I can' afford to do at home in the evenings with my boys and DH I have too much to do. I really wanted a grilled chix salad last nite for dinner while they were eating their stuff crust supreme pizza from pizzahut, but I changed my mind and did the protein shake. I'll have that salad for lunch today so by the time dinner rolls around the protein shake will hold me until the next morning. I'm also drinking more Water than usuall.

Avilla you did great at Red Lobster, when I went in January I ordered the ceasar salad with extra dressing and ate FOUR tops off the garlic biscuits.:) Now if I would've had me some Syrup I would have eaten the remaining of the biscuits, well as much as the band would've allowed me:heh: I did turned down the b-day cake that I was offered.

Tann that sounds like a great idea. Everyones band restricts diffrently at diffrent times. If that makes you feel more comfortable go for it. You are doing a great job. What is your family having to say about you new look? Have you done any shopping yet?

Okay so last night we decided to take the kids to a Mongolian Grill for dinner. I've really only eaten out a couple of times since Septermber when I had my first fill so I was kind of excited. I skipped the noodles, and opted for all the fresh meat and veggies and the chef cooked it up and I thought "This is perfect!"....Uhmmm.....it was ugly. It took me 20 minutes to choke down a couple bites of meat and sliced mushrooms. I had to excuse myself to the restroom 4 times and my poor husband felt soooo bad for me. We still had a great time, the kids love watching the chef cook your food exactly as you've made it and we will definitely go back again...I'll just have to figure out what to eat since their main menu is a no go.....poo!

Overall my day was pretty sloppy and not organized. I didn't do my meal plan on Sunday night like I usually do so I ended up eating weird all day but whatever....today is a new day.

Today I'm eating.

B- Cottage cheese and fruit

S- 1 Turkey pepperoni stick

L- Lentil Soup

D- Meatloaf and veggies

Drank 32 oz Water so far. Have a fab day all!

PS I'm so glad that other people on here are finally starting to experience a little bit of feeling free from a bondage to food....that's all I want is just a small piece of freedom from it. I know everyday won't be perfect and I know that there will still be times when I fall to weakness...but I'm sure trying to work it as best I can....and praying every day that my children don't grow up to have an emotional connection to food....which ultimately gives you nothing emotional in return....except heartache.

This easy 10 minute walking plan does more then get rid of sneaky pounds, it’s an amazing cure-all for common winter woes, including comfort-food cravings, blue moons and lowered immunity.

We teamed up with indoor-walking pioneer Leslie Sansone to design a simple 10-minute, full body routine that you can do in a 10’ x 10’ space in the comfort of your own home. Repeat the sequence three times daily for the speediest slimdown.

Step 1: March in Place (1 minute)

Step 2: Side steps (1 minute)

Step 3: Alternating kicks (1 minute)

Step 4: Knee lifts (1 minute)

Step 5: Fast march and press (90 seconds)

Step 6: Speedy side steps (90 seconds)

Step 7: Quick kick-and-reach (90 seconds)

Step 8: Twist lifts (90 seconds)

Oh my girls, this is awesome! I decided I wanted to try something different last night and remembered this post from Josette and decided to give it a try. (Page 29, Post #426) It sounded so easy to me but it really gives you a good workout!! I am looking forward to doing it again tonight when I get home! I did this last night along with 10 mins. on the bike and 45 crunches (25 front and 10 each side). I also did 10 leg lifts. When my hubby suggested them, I thought they would be a breeze but boy did I feel it. I laid flat on my back and raised both feet 1 inch off the floor and then lifted my legs straight up and back down to an inch. I felt great after my workout!

My Water intake has been great lately! My scale is at a standstill right now but I know that I haven't been eating enough calories. I only ate one meal yesterday which is not good. I was home cleaning house and just didn't stop to eat. I am going to start fluctuating my calorie intake to get the scale moving again.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
