anyone have"dips" in their stomach?

Recommended Posts

I have 2 dips around my incisions on the front of my stomach. They are about the size of golf balls. Anyone have such a thing? If so, do they go away?

I had a couple of dents in my tummy post-op, but they are long gone. I think they were gone by 6 months.

I did and still do and I am almost 8 weeks post op! They aren't as dipped in as they were 2 weeks post op but they are still there.

I have a deep dent in my left side from the internal stitch from the large incision to the muscle. Its suppose to break loose from the muscle from 2-6 weeks and I hope it hurries. I am one of those that have a very tight pull on my stitch and its very painful. I don't know if the big crease will stay or go.

I also have two dents in my stomach. My Dr told me that the healing will cause the incisions to retract as the scar tissue heals. She said they will get better throughout the year and should be gone after 1yr or so. I also have a lump of scar tissue which my Dr said will also get softer after a year.

When i say dent or crease i mean it is well over 2 inches deep. It looks as if a fine wire is being pressed down deeply and the skin on each side is touchy at least 2 inches in. That is the stitch I mentioned. Not all Drs do this stitch and not all patients get one this tight. At 15 days out mine is very painful and every day i wKe up I hope today will be the day it pops. Until then i can't exercise or do much of anything.

Can't see mine anymore if i'm standing, but if i bend over, there is one on the larger upper right scar. It sinks it pretty far. BTW this one was also very sore for a while after surg.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
