Weight loss before surgery

Recommended Posts

So I go in this next Monday and should find out if my insurance has signed off on surgery or not. I'm a little nervous, but I fully believe that God will guide me through this as well.

My recent thoughts have been on how much weight that I've lost pre-surgery. I've actually lost 76lbs as of this morning (BMI is 45.6). I look at the weight loss and think, 'man I've lost a small human'. I've stalled on my journey recently and have started to see some bad habbits (eating too much & poor choices) coming back. I look forward to what God has for me in the future.

With all of that said, has anyone else seen this kind of weight loss before surgery? Or am I as unusual of a case as I feel that I am.

In my experience, your pre surgery weight loss is rare and amazing! Great work!

I think the success you've achieved pre-surgery is a great sign that you'll succeed after. You've definitely put the work in! Youve made a lot of hard choices and sacrifices to get to this point, and theyve PAID OFF in 76 different ways.

Analyze your recent struggles like a general surveying the battlefield. Whatever is causing you to be tempted, eliminate it or flee from it! Throw out all the sweets and junk carbs in the house! If you snack between dinner and bed, go to the gym after dinner and drink a ton of Water on the bike! Find someone local who can relate and ask them to go shopping with you and keep you honest.

Adapt, Improvise, Overcome! You can do it!

(I'm a lousy cheerleader, but we're right here with you.)

I lost about 25 lbs pre-surgery. 10 on my own and then about 15 with my Nut. Great for you that you've lost so much. Any weightloss is excellent!

I lost 55lbs. in the months leading up to surgery (June '12 to Dec. '12). I feel it helped ease me into the whole new normal. Everyone is different, and has their own way of going into to the process. You are off to a great start! Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
