I am doing well... a bit tired but I went back to work one week post op so that is probably why since we are still healing. I can get a whole cup of a cream soup down and it doesn't hurt or make me sick. I worry its too much???? I miss chewing food lol

I just started soft foods... scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt. Or anything blended. I can only get 2-3 tablespoons down of these. And I'm still on my shakes for Protein. No.carbs but I don't miss them much.

I'm day 2 post-op and I've felt better. I've got lots of what I feel is acid reflux going on and think I would do better if it would just go away. Is this normal to have this? I've been keeping 5-6 oz fluids down an hour and will be allowed to have Proteins at some point today. I'm also hoping to get cath out today.

I was sleeved on July 16th. The first week I was dropping about 2 pounds a day!! I was super excited, but since then, I haven't really lost anything. I have been stuck at 15 pounds weight loss for a few days now. I went out of town this weekend and was super excited to get home and weigh, but I had actually gained a pound! WHAT!??!! I haven't been working out up until this point, but I am definitely hitting the gym this afternoon. I am ready for things to pick up again!

The bariatric nurse coordinator told me yesterday that for the first month after surgery you may lose some weight and then gain some back or not lose much at all. She also said that once I am one month out, I will start really losing weight. So don't get too distressed over a little stall. It won't be long till you will be looking fabulous. Trust me.

Also, it hurts down around my left side when i take a deep breath in. I'm using the incentive spirometer and walking so I don't know why that is. Maybe not walking enough?I saw where one girl wasn't having any pain on day 3! I wish that was me. It's also hard to sleep because I can't get comfortable. I'm a side sleeper and when I sleep on my back it hurts. Oh and waking up with headaches. Maybe the way im trying to sleep because when i sit up they kind of go away. Is anyone else having these problems?

I am having similar experiences as you are. Surgery was on 7/24, 1 week post op now. The pain with deep breath is almost gone now. I walk about 30 mins twice a day (usually) and putter around the house. My vision is a little funky too, like harder to focus when reading, headaches in morning when I wake up, and my jaw seems to be sore so I wonder if I am clenching at night. (never did that before).

Me too! My vision has been a little weird too. It's getting better though. I thought maybe because i was dehydrated, someone told me that could be. Other pain is subsiding. Hopefully on the downward side of everything now :)

I to had pain when lying on my side. I took liquid lortac at night for several nights due to my incisions pulling. It still sounds like gas pain in your left chest, I had that to and hot Decaf coffee or tea would help that. For some reason the hot liquid did wonders for me. You might want to try that. Keep up the incentive sprirometer and walking to. Don't worry after abouta week you will be great. Today is one week post op for me and I don't have any pain anywhere. You will to.

I had my surgery on July 24th, I have pain at my drain site and pain on my left side. I woke this morning weak and tired. Had to lay back down but once I got some Protein in I feel better. I go back to work tomorrow. I hope I have enough energy to make it a full day.

Wow I asked for another week, I had surgery on the 22nd. I want to be sure of my bathroom habits. I just started full liquids and want and need my pipes working with me not against me while at work.

Would you do half days until you have more energy?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
