I was sleeved July 10 and I'm in no way ready to eat but I'm curious when did you all feel you could eat "real" food? I understand the small portions I just was curious as to when you could eat a meal.

It depends on your plan. I know of some people that were on pureed and soft foods very quickly. My doctor didn't put me on soft foods till 6-8 weeks out. I didn't do regular food till at least 3 months and I eased into it. I would check with your dietitian to be sure of their plan.

Good luck!

My dr also has me on fluids only for 4 weeks, then soft mushy stuff for another 4. SO I guess that makes it 8 weeks till I get REAL food? And right now I could care less

After surgery diets vary from one extreme to another. I was able to begin eating soft foods...soft scrambled eggs were my friend and still are. I am 6 weeks out. I can eat any meat as long as I chop it up and chew it plenty. Some people cannot tolerate meat for a long time. Some people eat refried Beans and cheese after a couple of weeks. I tried but failed. My stomach hurt for an hour. Each of us is different. Take one step at a time.

My post op diet seemed to progress at around the same pace as what I "felt like I could handle" By six weeks I was eating complete albeit small meals with no foods disagreeing with the sleeve.

I can't say I've eaten what I would call "a meal" yet. I think of a meal as having more than 1 item in it. Though I eat 5-6 mini meals a day they are usually 1 item.

What do you consider a mini meal? I'm on purée foods now and have to eat 4 to 5 small meals to get in my Protein and I am consuming 3-4 oz at each meal and still not breaking 500 calories.

I would say our journey is very similiar! I am now 6 weeks and eating what I am in the mood for and nothing has bothered me so far. My doctor sent me home with instructions to start puree and progress to soft if the puree didn't bother me. This worked for me. Good luck!! :)

My Dr. told me that some people are on liquids for 12 weeks. It depends how long it takes the swelling to go down.

sorry just getting back to this. c&p from my other post. I do 6 mini meals a day. Some stand bys for me are hot choc /decaf (15g) . 2 light mozzarella string cheese (12g). Chobani Lemon Greek Yogurt (15g). Boars Head Ever-roast deli chicken 2 oz (13g). Al Fresco chicken sausage (14g). Morningstar Spicy Black Bean Burger (11g).1 pouch tuna/1/2 c 1% cottage cheese (31g). Gortons Simply Bake Tilapia (20g). Unjury Protein Powder 1 scoop/8 oz skim milk (29g) and sometimes I add 2 T of PB2 which brings it to 34g. Each one of these standbys is 1 mini meal for me. I don't have room for anything after eating it. Don't eat them all on the same day but keep my cals under 900 for the day. I shoot for 90g a day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
