well it turns out I now have a kidney infection. likely due to the fact I have not been able to get enough fluids in making my bladder sticky. awesome. now I can't eat anything because my stomach is queasy. another 2 weeks off from work.

just trying to stay focused. its hard because I read so many stories on here about people who are 4 weeks post op like me or even less and they can eat and drink super easy. I take a sip of Water and its like' date=' uggh. Maybe it will be better once I clear this infection. And the surgeon switched my pepcid to prilosec and a bigger dose too twice daily. God I hope this all works. The longer I take to recover the more my mom and certain family members say you shouldn't have done that surgery. Frankly, I am sick of hearing it.[/quote']

Our stats are very similar, and you are losing a lot. Don't get too down. I'm a nurse like you and luckily I can drink fluids pretty well. But I have a stockpile of IV start kits and Fluid in case I begin to dry out. Any nurse friends willing to hook you up? An IV once a week might be just what this NP ordered ;)

Rest up and feel better.

Don't get discouraged; I am almost 10 weeks out and still can't eat much volume or a huge variety. I am just trying to be patient and remind myself that everyone progresses differently and the most important thing is to get my liquids and Protein in. It's hard when you miss food, but I've noticed that my desires are slowly going away and it's getting easier. Also, as I continue to heal and lose weight I feel better and it gets easier to focus on exercising and doing more.

I think time is our best friend. It's hard to think its already been 10 weeks, but it goes quickly. I really struggled in the beginning and was very emotional, but every day is better!!

Best of luck to you and hope you feel better soon!

It is good that you have a cause and can do what you need to do to fix it. I have the same feeling as you about how difficult it is to read so many posts on what others are eating so early in their process. I will be 3 wks out on Friday(7/26) and I am still on pureed foods. But, after reading some posts - think I can try something more and then I pay for it. I am glad that I read this - I have been craving a nice hot cup of coffee so bad - even Decaf would make me happy. But, think I will wait as I was instructed. I hope your day will be better today!

coffee was the worst thing I could have done to myself. Really irritated me for some reason. This morning I tried out a new Protein Powder I got at kaiser pharmacy for 8 dollars and was able to get in 44 grams of protein! It has almost no flavor, 4 gm sugar and 22 gm Protein for a tiny scoop. Doubled it and added fresh berries. 4 ounces went down fine. Natures blend. No fake sweet taste. Thank God.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
