I'm one month post-op. I've bought sports and soft lacyra bras and it all seems to irritate the incision. Is there anything others have used for support?

I wore those tank tops that have a shelf bra built into them. Those seemed to work for me but I am small.

not really answering your question..................

i always try and look for the good with the bad

i don't wear/or need a bra :)

i feel free!!! and don't bounce anymore

I am a 14 year breast cancer survivor :)

when i had reconstruction surgery i opted to be "very" small up there!!!

after all those years having big girls, which can be an "uplifting" situation  i wanted to go small

now that i've lost my weight, my breast size matches the rest of my body ;)

works for DH and I ;)

sorry i hijacked the board for a couple of minutes :(

now...............

back to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress

Have you tried wearing a thin cami or undershirt under your bra? It'll break the friction between the band of the bra & your skin.

I am having the same problem. It isn't such an issue until I need to go back to work in a week. I am huge so a bra is a must. I am thinking I will need to break down and buy a larger size bra to give me more wiggle room and help the problem.

I went to Maidenform today and bought a wireless bra with extra coverage. It's very soft and supportive.

Can you just buy a bra extender? They are exactly what they sound like, a piece of fabric that clips to both the loops and the hooks to give you more room around, without having to get the cups bigger. I have bought them high end lingere stores, as well as on ebay.

I cut up an old stray sock, rolled up one of the pieces, and used it for padding between my bra and the incision. That was the only thing that made wearing a bra bearable for me for the first few weeks.

I am big on top to. What I did was tighten up the shoulder straps so the girls would not be laying on my incision. Maybe you can put some gauze between your incision and bra and that might protect it a little bit. But while you are at home try not to wear one or wear a sports bra so they can heal without irritation. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
