Please don't take both gatorade AND the potassium pills. It will be dangerous. Lethal injection on death row is by potassium injection since it affects the heart. Since tomorrow is a weekday I would give your primary doctor a call. Maybe you don't need your bp meds or need lower dose. Plain Water won't kill you. Like another fellow nurse said it takes literally gallons of water to cause water intoxication or a problem called SIADH (pituitary). Please be safe. More is not better.

I've been drinking the low-cal Gatorade lately because I just can't bring myself to drink enough plain Water. The Gatorade has more carbs than I'd like, but right now I figure staying hydrated is more important!

I lightly salt my Water and have been for past 6 months for my adrenal issues. Goes down easier than plain water or I make sun tea. Adding a fresh lemon slice helps too.

I understood its oral pills. Still its pretty heavy duty stuff. Plenty of other options. I'm also shocked at the amount you were given .

diet further down the page).

Not just water!

It's important that you remain hydrated after weight loss surgery... you must drink FLUIDS (preferably, low calorie ones such as unsweetened, caffeine-free herbal tea) but not just Water.

If you only drink Water, you may develop electrolyte abnormalities such as water intoxication syndrome.

Talk with your team for recommendations specific to you, but usually no more than half of your fluids should be water.

This is a very dangerous thread. The original poster stated she was on blood pressure meds at the time. Considering she also required potassium supplement with the bp med I assume it was a combo bp diuretic which means it was half a Water pill. That alone can cause significant electrolyte imbalances.

For 20 years I worked as a certified emergency room nurse. I have never once seen anyone come in with an electrolyte disturbance because they drank 64 ounces of Water. That is 8 glasses 8 ounces each. That is recommended for everybody not just wls patients. Suggesting people take additional potassium is dangerous if they are on medications that affect potassium. Some drugs retain potassium. Adding in gatorade may seem harmless but its not for everybody.

The people who have been treated for too much water are those with congestive heart failure or SIADH or diabetes insipdus or dialysis patients. Please take a moment to inquire with your treating medical team before taking any "medical" advice on this or any other site. I know its well meaning but doesn't mean it can't harm someone.

There's a lot of conflicting information out there. I just don't want people to think its not ok to drink Water. It is much better than drinking artificially sweetned drinks. Too many chemicals. Sun tea with fresh lemons or sliced oranges is also really good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
