I have mine on Monday too!!! I'm excited but I feel more nervous/worried than anything.... Not sure how normal that is.

I'm so many emotions right now. Excitement was just the easiest to identify!

Plus I've had 7 other operations and 2 babies.. The procedure it's self isn't scaring me... It's the statistics that have my nerves rattled the most

I haven't seem or heard of that one. Where did you see that? This is not a dangerous operation. I know of no one who died as a result of it. Surgery always carries dangers, regardless of procedures.

I have several reasons to be worried, but I'm not. I am considered at high risk because my weight is near 400, I've had a previous heart attack and I'm over 60. But even with that, there isn't much risk from the procedure.

If you seek negativities, you can always find them. I think the key to having a successful anything is to be positive. There is a strong mind-body connection. So keep your chin up. Connecting with others will certainly help.

Good luck ... not that you need it. :)

It was in a pamphlet in my surgeons office. And yes this surgery is quite risky. The procedure it's self not so much, but the after care, risk of leaks, future complications- all pose possible risks.

If I were you, I'd do more research!

I have done extensive research. For several years and I have not heard that either. This is from the ASBMS study that was done in July of 2012.

The 30-day mortality rate for sleeve gastrectomy was 0.08 percent, while the rate for gastric bypass was 0.14 percent and 0.03 percent for gastric banding. These mortality and complication rates are lower than those typically associated with gallbladder or hip replacement surgery.[1],[2]

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
