I have been wondering about laura ven. Did she just decide she was wasting too much time on the internet? I always thought she'd come back.

I am a wee nervous about my date tomorrow. :)

It must be that or even more. The site was going through a rough period then I feel, lots of in house fighting with the wrong people often being blamed. I do miss her posts.

One person we are really missing is Wanda, anyone heard from her?

I know I've focused on this a bit in the past, but just came across another interesting piece to the puzzle. This article is a bit long, but it does briefly touch on intermittent fasting as a stressor, which, if you're already stressed is only going to compound the stress. This may be why 5:2 was making me feel so nuts for a while? Anyhow, it also covers minimum effective dose vis-a-vis exercise, which is a topic I'm also keen on.

Okay, been away for a couple weeks. Haven't had much time to be on BP. I've read through most of all of the posts and sense that as we discussed earlier, we are all at a"take ourselves in hand" sort of place.

I realized again over the last month that its going to be a continued "journey" (not battle) for me, learning a little each step away from surgery and maintenance. JUST AS NORMAL PEOPLE DO! Let's admit it, look around you, most people don't just magically stay slim unless they are in the 1% with disgustingly high metabolisms that burn it off! I have a good YaYa Sister who cleans on average 5 houses a day full speed at 59 years old. Eats like a bird, strictly adhered to good eating most of the time and it takes her MONTHS to lose 5 pounds!!!

It is what it is. We have all reached great places in our lives physically and now we need to just love ourselves back to those places!

Thankfully, I WALKED 75 miles (yes!!! That's right) last week and it's a good thing! We had the Dining Plan at Disney World and ate at many high dollar places all 10 days. In fact, I got sick of eating! It's kind of sinful fore since I wonder up eating about a third of a plate! Of course, there were the Desserts, Dole whips and Snacks along with all that! I came back EXHAUSTED. ha! Need a vacay! Lol

I was up two pounds but first fast day I had lost them and was back down to the two and one more and then lost another with last fast day.

I read someone's post (can't remember whose) that said they thought fasting could be a stressor. I feel exact the opposite. It settles me down and gives me a sense of control. Here is an article that states it pretty well, I thought.

Anyway, love to all. Best to all. Kim, love seeing your pics. I'm adding a few from DW

Florinda, hope you find a job soon. You can lose your weight. I believe in you!

Swizzly are you feeling better? Last you posted you were in a dark place.

Had an awesome date last night. I think he wanted to see me again tonight but he didn't ask directly and I decided I am better off not diving in too fast so doing something else. Also i don't know how to play stupid dating games but I hear you don't wanna be too available. .make em work for your attention a bit at the beginning. I hate that crap but apparently there is a rule book I never read..m

I found a great guy, with a great job, who is a "giver". Cross your fingers that he likes me enough to agree to a second date ...

I don't know what happened. .. I did experiment with my make up. ..but tonight when I went out with the meet up dancing to live music all the men were interested. Several of the me young ones wanted to buy me drunks etc which I declined. A young guy just at the place asked me to dance over and over. It was fun. Now if I could just figure out why I was suddenly so appealing. .ha.

Had a bit of a misunderstanding with steven. We were supposedly starting up, I didn't really want to keep dating others etc. I did quit the whole online thing but steven went off the rails, over the edge and cut himself off from me. We haven't actually dated since the big decision to start up again . Say a a month ago so I just decided to "move on". Anyway we had a big tiff because I didn't understand what the heck was going on. We worked it out but I told him this is not working. .no blame just not working. I can't have someone in my life who stresses me out and who is so high drama. Wish I didn't still carry a flame for him....and I am certainly going to keep dating but very casually. ..not getting involved with one guy until I know him way better. I have made that mistake. ..zeroing in way too fast (ie not dating others) and then am disappointed.

If you have recurrent BV then you need a course of macrobid, it is a bacteria specific antibiotic. As someone who has recurrent UTIs I am familiar with the multitude of cures, staphisagria is a good homeopathic remedy that I have been using, you can get it in co-ops.

Has anyone ever heard of Warrior food Protein?

Florinda, I am very interested in this post. I have also had many utis and problems in this area. I now take herbs that i learned about in a book called

"the Better Bladder book" I am luck that there is someone here locally where I can get everything I need. I've never heard of staphisagria. What does it do?

Also, where did you meet your new guy? There is no way to meet guys around here other than online, cause it's such a small town.

Sheryl, I wasn't aware that you had met someone who asked you out. I am assuming it's a IRL guy, not an online date, since you're so against it.

Maybe Steven and you are just meant to be friends. He can't give you what you need in a relationship, and there is nothing wrong with a friend with benefits if that works for you. If you're not with anyone else, I don't see anything wrong with it, unless emotionally , it would hurt you.

I haven't been on much. I have been getting more and more depressed. I am having back surgery on 11-4 which I am not looking forward to. I am really tired of my legs going numb though.

I am so glad we have each other. I know we have a special group here. The people who joined our group here are such intelligent, insightful women!

Yeah Denise I met him in a parking lot. We went on a dancing date Friday and saw him for a bit Sunday after my ride. It's just a date or two not a relationship nothing physical. I gave up on the online dating because I just keep meeting people with issues. I used to think I couldn't date any other way but I have figured this out now so conducting a new social experiment. :) I like this much better so far.

I wouldn't date at all if Steven were really available but he really isn't. I am undecided what to do there but I am fine not heartbroken.

Has Bill become less needy since getting a job etc.?

Mom in law is going home today... and even though I love her, I am up 8 pounds. Blame her "going out to eat habits" and my "Why sure YES thank you" and Cheesecake factory. :( I really did it up over the last 3 weeks. SO happy to fast today. What a relief. I know exactly what went wrong though... I broke my own advice... did not write things down most of the time... mindless eating.... I did however weigh every day... and watched the slow bounce in action... did little to nothing about it most days.

She is skinny as a rail, and considered me a "doesn't eat much" person at this point, but the scale says different.  Back on track girls. Georgia, your trip sounds like so much fun!

Yes... Wanda... where are you? Laura Ven did not blame the site for her leaving, it was other bombshell things that caused her split. I haven't hear from her in a while... I'll try to reach out again...

Kelly and Florinda, somebody is finally organizing a meeting in our area. It is located in Bothell on a Sunday afternoon.. thought it would be nice for a few vets to show up. I wonder what happened to FiddleMan and his wife? Maybe I am remembering wrong, but I think he is a local and i never see his posts anymore.

Anyway, details are in the WA Sleevers forum

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
