Tightening in Neck area

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I had my first fill last Thursday. I am tight. I eat 2-3 bites of food and chew it TONS (it's small to begin with) and feel full. If I eat anymore I get very uncomfortable pressure. I sip Water all day long. Very small sips go down.

The problem I am having is I have pains in the left and right side of my neck. Kinda achy. If I hiccup I have a achy feeling in my rib cage area.

I don't know if these are band related at all. It does make me wonder. Does anyone have any ideas or any experience w/ this?

Thanks so much,

Kathy

Sorry, sweetie, wish I had some insight to share but I don't. Hope you're feeling better by now. Just keep sipping warm or room temp liquids and give it a little time. Do you know how much the doc put in your band this time?

Thank you gayle and congratulations on a WOW weightloss!

I have a total of 2.5 cc in a 4cc band. I got 1cc during surgery and then 1.5cc at my fill.

I am wondering if I am too tight. I hate to complain but worry a bit about this weird tightness in my neck/shoulder area. It runs all through my rib cage but I only feel that sporatically.

THank you for your reply!

I have felt the tightness in my neck. I think it could be one of 2 things. Either it is referred pain from being too tight, OR it is just from being tense from restriction. I guess those are kind of the same thing. Try if you can, to give it a week or two. I find if I am really tight, losing a few pounds lets the band loosen up. Maybe that isn't exactly what is going on, but waiting it out usually works out. The neck pain and general tightness passes.

On the other hand, if you are really hurting, don't delay -- get an unfill. Just try and listen to your body and go slow. Good luck!

I get that pain too! i thought I was just nuts... It is on the left side. I get it almost everytime I eat... even a little bit... I'm not the only one! It feels like a neck/back of shoulder cramp.

I got that tightening after my first fill and thought I was going to have a panic attack over it. After a while it went away and I didnt even have much restriction. Now I get it if I eat too much because the food is stacking up inside of there, have to be careful with that so you/I dont stretch out anything.

Cindy,

banded May 1st 2002

Cindy, I noticed from your post how long you have been banded, and wanted to ask you this.......Have you had any troubles with the band, how much have you lost.....maintained, and if you lost your band do you think you have learned from it the way to control your weight. I am just wondering about how long term banders get along with life after eating this way for extended time. Thanks in advance, and I have now been banded for six months, not long enough to know how it goes long term. Mizboo

Kathy I went through the pain in the neck part for about a week, about 1 month after my surgery. Every time I burped or Hiccuped it hurt. Then it just went away as fast as it came about. I also had pain in my side for about the first 1.5 months. It seemed like I had it when I was really full from something like a fluffy drink, like a smoothie. something that took up alot of air-room. If that makes any sense. But the pain in my neck only happened when I burped or hiccuped. Now both pains are gone.

How long has it been since your surgery?

Hey, found out what the "pain" is...

Goggle -- Kehr's sign

It is your body's naturl reaction to irritation of the diaphram. The band is just beneath it... so it could cause enough of an irritation to produce the Kehr's sign (aka. left shoulder pain).

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
