Magnesium Citrate-- Question for Surgery Vets

Recommended Posts

So I took my mag/cit about an hour ago. Followed the directions on the bottle ("drink with 8oz. of water")...how long till I get the desired result? I'm worried that my system is moving too slowly, since there's been absolutely no "action" from the magnesium citrate yet. Should I be concerned, since my surgery is tomorrow morning? Or am I jumping the gun? I'm pre-op-nervous and a bit neurotic, I admit!

It takes 30 minutes to 6 hrs. Honestly, out of the hundreds of times I've given magcitrate, I've never seen it take 6 hrs. Usually 30 minutes to 2 hrs. Good luck!

Thanks!! I've heard a gurgle or two from the belly region, but nothing to write home about yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed--it DOES always work, right? *bites nails* think.gif

My system is slow. It took several hours before it started working for me. But never fear! It will start and work very effectively.

Mine was fast, it took an hour and it hit me.

It's been an hour, no progress yet--but I will keep the faith! I do have a second bottle on hand but I don't think I'll resort to that unless midnight comes with no results!

For me it was lightening fast, started working in less than 30 minutes!

Ohhhh, GURL, it will hit fast and without warning! Stay by the porcelain throne with some breaks inbetween to watch Breaking Amish or whatever ridiculous show is currently marathoning on TLC. ;)

I had to take this stuff when I had an ovary/ovarian cyst removed in March, and it will most definitely work! Good luck!

Sigh--my system must be slow. Or it's trying to work its way past the bagel I ate for lunch as a farewell to the carb monster. *taps fingers impatiently*

I've had to take it few time and each time it's action time varies. I remember the first time I went for a walk with my kids and had to call my husband I come get us.. And no time to spare either! Stay close to a toilet :D

We have liftoff. At least...the beginnings of liftoff. But hooray, progress! (I'll spare you the gory details and simply say it definitely works!)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
