Would not expect that to happen. I am pre-op. Thought they took the part of the stomach that asks for food. Hang in there. I know it will be worth it.....

No one said this was going to be easy, it is a challange every day. Good luck, and right now who says you have to sit and watch them eat, leave the room, go do something else for now, they will understand.

Are you sure it's hunger? I thought it was hunger too, but it's not. I was confusing gas & acid with hunger. I had read about this before surgery so I knew to be wary of it.

Take the acid reducer RELIGIOUSLY and it's starts to go away. I've noticed now that when gas gets too close to the sleeve area it feels like hunger. If I make myself burp it goes away. I also noticed early on that I ate to max capacity, yet still felt hunger-like rumblings. Coupled with what I had read before, I suspected it couldn't be hunger.

You definitely came to the right place to vent! Whenever I experience food envy, I come to the board and even just reading all the posts helps me a lot. I am just 8 days out and am getting really tired of liquids, so I know how you feel.

Hang in there. I am 4 weeks out and can eat real food. It's not as much as I used to eat...but I'm ok with that because I need to get fit. Keep that in your mind. Your health is more important than a few bites of food that will just end making you miserable. Every time I see a fast food commercial say oh no...that is so bad for you. Was at a fair last night with all that bad food and just kept telling myself how unhealthy it is. Keep telling your self your health is more important. You will be ok...

For of you that are on liquids:

My dr. had approved me for mushies if I can tolerate them... I soooo can't, not comfortably anyway. Today I've stayed on liquids. Hot liquids are better. The mushies i'd eaten I couldn't get in more than 1.5 oz max! My sleeve was swollen when I left the hospital so that may account for the tightness. but today has been my most comfortable day! Just on Powerade Zero, the broth from Wonton Soup, and lemon water! In fact had so much broth at the restaurant (to fit in, somewhat, I guess) That I briefly was scared, but we walked around and all the liquids settled and I was fine.

Don't rush to mushies... It's not all that!

I had surgery on tuesday. I was literally crashing on blood sugar. Called surgeon and he said to go full liquids but stay really light until the official full liquid date. Cream Soup really thinned. And ad some Protein Powder to my broth. It has really made a difference. I have yet to get hungry not even head hungry. food does not appeal to me at all. My hubby is shocked. He is a cancer patient so any calorie intake he can get is great. He walked by with a container of cake frosting and asked if i wanted a lick. I was LIKE NO. He was not being mean. I have already failed at lap band. I asked him to feel free to say whatever if he sees me screwing up. Today at lunch he noticed i was eating the soup to fast. He gently reminded me we could take as long as we needed for me to eat he was so tight. Hang in there we can do this!!

I'm like hurting for you guys... Pepcid will kill the hunger-like feeling. Today I switched to Pepcid complete chewable since getting down the pill wasn't really working for me. I only needed to morning dose and not one acid rumble all day! Please try it. If you're scared speak with your surgeon, but it was among the list of things I should take so I don't feel weird suggesting it...

I was there. Surgery on June 24 & no hunger at the hospital (they were administering pepcid in the IV) came home & hunger gallore! Because of what i'd read in another thread I knew I needed my acid reducer... Now problem solved

Don't torture yourselves! :(

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
