So I added unsweetened chocolate spirutein Protein Powder with scoop of Sugar Free Chocolate ice cream and splash of half and half made it very liquidy. Tastes like wendys frosty. Got 2 oz in. Got in my Vitamin liquid and B12. My incisions have staples which burn occassionaly. Just glad to be home. I'm also pureeing creamy potato Soup with extra Water. Very good. Can get in 1 or 2 oz of that.

I'm doing fine. It was surprisingly pretty easy with no major issues. I went to Cancun. That beautiful beach was a great tonic! I had a little issue with a combination of gas and diarrea. I thave found that GasX helps that. I didn't have much gas from the surgery, though--no shoulder pain. I didn't walk enough, but I didn't need to . I found the IV pole awkward to maneuver. Thanks to my wonderful hubby who stayed with me and helped me with the pole! To Ms. Jones (I'm a Jones, too), sorry about your issues. My Dr gave me gatorade for the first few days. The instructions said to discontinue it after day 3, unless you had nausea or diarrea. I still drink it some and it helps. Of course, it is also good for dehydration. And for the coffee lovers. I found a mocha espresso flavored Protein called Click. It is awesome! I think I'm going to wait a bit to drink it, but I tried a taste today when my husband made some. I think I have the protein figured out pretty well and the "meal" times, but I am having trouble remembering to keep sipping water!

Hello all!!! WE MADE IT TO 1 WEEK!!!!!!! Its been pretty new but not so bad I must admit... After my 1 incident in the very beginning, I have been doing much better. However, I did have somewhat of an incident I think. My bf went to the custard stand to get me a sugar free slush drink but he came back with something like a gelati (ice cream on the top & bottom). I took the ice cream out as much as I could but figured a tiny bit wouldn't hurt. Long story short, I hadn't gone #2 since surgery & after my less than 2oz of deliciousness & about 20 minutes, I was 1 2 stepping it to the bathroom. No embarrassments or discomfort, it was just a long time spent on the porcelain throne just because I was unsure of what may happen ya know, with my new stomach & all. That was Tuesday btw. Wednesday I cheated again & had a holiday cookie. It was super soft with a super sweet icing on top & it was one of my worst decisions I've made.. Went straight through me & that was it for me!! Strictly broth, freeze pops, & Water. Today I started my full liquid stage... Haven't had any Protein yet tho.. :( I've been trying to figure out how I'm gonna cope tomorrow on my birthday... NO CAKE.. NO ICE CREAM... NO FOOD!!!! & still alil sore... How can I possibly enjoy my 30th birthday like this...? Smh Oh well, omw week sleeved & I'm happy I did it.. It's a life long learning process & I'm bouta rock this sleeve! Congratulations to you all!!! We're a big bunch a Great Big Fat Losers!!!!!!!

I'm happy your sleeve is working out for you Mrs. Jones! Thanks for the Gatorade tip. Maybe I'll give it a try every now & then.

Girl you made me laugh....I made homemade potato Soup but ate teensy pieces of mashed potato. Big mistake. The baby tummy didn't like it. No big incident just some gas pain. Live and learn. Same thing after I got my lapband and ate bread. Baby steps baby steps.

I'm glad y'all are doing well!

Today I had some of the juice from the pork n Beans. And oh my it was yummy. I had a little tiny bit of gas pain, but nothing that a gas-x couldn't handle.

Went for my first post op appointment today... My sweet 236 & today I weighed in @ 225. So I'm down 11lbs since surgery on June 28th. My Doc said 11lbs is kinda low but because I didn't have a lot to lose in the beginning it's good. I also don't drink enough Water or take in enough calories but I just don't ever have an appetite. Today I had a small slice of pizza.. smh is all I can do

Just a thought maybe not to eat solids so soon. It could cause a leak which they make you stay in the hospital for months while it heals. Not worth it.

I went yesterday for my first post-op appointment... I am also losing about a pound a day! In the words of the nurse, "you are really knocking those pounds out"

I was so excited to hear those words! :)

Also congrats to you on your weight loss!

I'm also losing about a pound a day. My Dr said I could start soft foods when I got home, but I was cautious and stayed on mostly Clear Liquids for a week, and now Protein Drinks for a week. My one "cheat" was creamy natural Peanut Butter. On the way home from Cancun, when they broke out the peanuts on the plane, it was all over! I didn't eat peanuts, but had to try just a tiny taste of the PB. It hasn't caused any issues. I am now beginning to feel like I want more though, so yesterday I had Greek yogurt AND peanut butter for lunch. The yogurt gave me gas pains, which were relieved by GasX, but I think I will keep trying just a little at a time. I think my tummy just needs to get used to it and the yogurt should be good for digestion. I have also had a little apple sauce. I'm just going to keep tying a little of new things, very carefully!

I ate refried Beans yesterday and have been sick all night with nausea. My new baby tummy is very tempermental. I was upgraded 2 days ago to pureed mushy foods which included Peanut Butter of creamy types. Its good Protein my surgeon said. Haven't tried it yet. This morning my tummy is still kinda upset.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
