Definitely start taking some Miralax or something similar. I waited and eventually eded up with a bowel obstruction (paralytic illeus) and it was SO painful. I could have avoided it had I taken something earlier. I had to be admitted to the hospital a week after surgery.

6dpo was the first one I had post-op. If you feel like you have to go and can't, that's when you should intervene - although my doctor did suggest Miralax to help things smooth themselves over :). Listen to your body - remember, you aren't necessarily eating enough to "create" a BM, so you're not necessarily going to go every day. Some people get the runs - I haven't.

I think you need to intervene. It will be awful if you go much longer. I had an episode where it took me 10 days! I was very uncomfortable....and it was uncomfortable when it finally happened.

When did you start eating and had you "prepped" (emptied) your bowel before you had the op? If you did a bowel prep and have been nil by mouth for 4 days (as I was) you wouldn't expect a lot to happen yet - but otherwise you might. Keep it gentle for now - no laxatives (including senna). Good luck.

Thanks. I did lax. Thankfully I was a go this morning! I didn't need to intervene after all.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
