I was sleeved June 10th so this week has definitely been tough! But my question is about my incisions- I have 6 incisions, 5 really small, barely noticeable ones and then one larger right next to my belly button (in fact it's hard to know which spot is my belly button and which is the incision). This one is ugly and indented into my stomach and is causing me pain when I move around. It feels similar to my stomach muscles being cut when I had my c-section.

Is this normal? I've asked two friends who have been sleeved and they don't remember any real pain in the incisions.

I have one incision that hurts. It is the only pain I have. The surgeon said it is normal because that is,where they pulled the extra stomach out.

Thanks for responding. That's what I've read too, but it made me nervous since my friends couldn't remember that happening. Does your incision look differently from the others? The painful one is indented, the others are flat and smooth.

Mine felt and looked the same way and I am happy to report that I now only have 1 belly button!

The outer incisions are barely noticeable, however the one near my belly button was the same as you described. I'm 6 weeks post op and it is fine now...was really tender up until last week or so.

I am also about 6 weeks post-op...the one larger incision is the only one that is not quite yet fully healed...mine looked about the same as the others except bigger...plus it was the only one that was somewhat tender although I wouldn't say painful...you are just 10 days post-op; I would say just to watch for signs of infection and contact the surgeon if you suspect that

Your friends have memory problems if they can't remember ;p lol

It feels like your c-section where they cut thru the muscle because that's what they did, cut thru the muscle and pulled your bouncing baby stomach out.

For me it HURT for weeks! And then I carried groceries in from trader joes and I think I pulled the healing muscle. I couldn't even bend over!!!

Stopped hurting about 4 weeks out, and while that scar is still nasty looking, it's flattening out. Baby sis says to lightly rub in a circular motion to try and break up the scar tissue/adhesions on my scars.

I was sleeved June 10th as well. My big incision is nasty looking and is very sore. Below it is sore as well. It's slowly getting better, and I am covering all my wounds with triple antibiotic ointment several times a day mostly to keep it from drying out. It hurts more when it's dry.

chinamama, my surgery was about 6 weeks ago, and I definitely have no problem with the memory of no true pain...just slightly sore...maybe I was just lucky, but I have had previous surgeries (but none laporscopic like this one), and this procedure was nothing like those

What about back pain? I think it's from being hunched over?

i was just in the hospital for wound dehiscence and it was my big incision by my navel. i had a puss pocket and a tiny little hole and it was just nasty. the ironic thing is that it didn't hurt AT ALL...until it started hurting. then it was hurting BAD.

the wound i had an issue with was the one at the top of my abdomen. i think my bra/breasts were pressing on it.

my big incision is really disgusting looking and bruised. when i first saw it i thought nooooo. it looks so disgusting. but i have been googling pictures and most peoples seem to fade to being nearly invisible. i hope this is the case for myself, and i hope this is the case for you as well.

I was sleeved April 22nd, and my big incision is STILL not healed... so I think that we are all different. but mine has been a pain in every way since surgery. BUT, it has been my only issue so I thank heavens for that!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
