I see all over here that people brag about not taking pain medication. As someone ho was sleeved on may1st and an RN there is no extra points in life for not taking pain medication when you need it. I get he feelings some times here that people look down upon us who had to us it for more then 2days post op. I had a lot of pain for over 3 weeks. Just to get to sleep at night it took a couple of Vicodin before I went to bed and about 4hours later in the middle of the night. Now it's better but I feel we should look down on us who had to use it. Again I am not a super human but we are recovering from surgery!

I hit it pretty hard in the hospital, but I wasn't hurting all that much. My Dr. said that I was paying for it if I used it or not, so use it up. Good advice from the Dr. :D I had a script for liquid hydrocodone for when I go home, but I truly didn't need it and used it to sleep for about 2 days after I got home.

Oh, I used mine. I got liquid Tylenol with Oxycodone. Tasted awful so I mixed it with my crystal light just to get it down. It took me a half hour to get the Tbls. down, so I would start early and be done by the time it was time to take it again. It really helped at night. My mom (also an RN-Retired) kept telling me before I even went in for surgery not to be a hero. Take it if you need it.

The night of my surgery, I ended up with a Migraine about 8pm. They couldn't give me anything for it (nothing by mouth). I even asked for an injection of Imitrex but the RN explained to me why they couldn't. Don't remember the reason (was in a drugged fog). So I kept pushing my pain med button for more of that, hoping it would help. 8am the next morning, still with migraine, one of the RN's tells me that the pain meds can cause Migraines. That might have been useful info the night before. Lol! Once I tolerated the sips of H20, I was able to take my beloved Imitrex. It did the trick. So, no, I'm no hero. I laugh just picturing what I must have looked/sounded like to the very sweet RN that night. I'm walking the halls, migraine, ready to puke, dry heaving, begging for drugs! Just shoot me up, man!!

I actually was someone who didn't take it but mostly because it was disgusting. They gave it to me in the hospital and I almost threw up. My pain was very minimal so I guess I was lucky. I'm a little disappointed I'm not getting any bonus points. :-)

I had 3 c sec and didn't take pains but I did with the sleeve due to the NG tube. I definitely do NOT look down on you. It's there for a reason. I wouldn't ever judge. I have read a lot of post on this forum and do understand where you are coming from. I hope you feel better soon.

I didn't use mine, but only because I couldn't! I couldn't keep liquids down the first few days, including the liquid hydrocodone.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
