I thought I'd put it out there to see of anyone has had this happen as I've really only seen it happen to others at weeks 5 or 6 and then later on.

I'm 4 and a half weeks post op and I've lost 8kg (17lb) which I'm thrilled with but I haven't lost any weight since 2 weeks post op.

Is this normal?

You will hear this a hundred times, but yes, it's normal. No two people will have the same experience from surgery to weight loss to maintenance. There is almost no difference between 4 and a half weeks and 5 weeks, so I'd say you are in the ball park. Congrats on your 17 pound loss! You can look forward to more coming off in the future. You will eventually learn your patterns, which may steady and slow, stair step and quick. Good luck as you continue in your progress.

Thanks for the encouragement but I actually stopped at 2 weeks not 4 and a half. I suppose everyone is different.

How is your weight loss journey going?

hi k8ee, just wanted to say your not alone, im nearly 3 weeks out from surgery, lost weight in the first two weeks (5 kilos) but nothing this week so far :( i keep reading about a 'week 3 stall' that can last for a while, so im not too worried, ill just keep plodding along, im sure it will happen eventually :) ps, 8 kgs is great, well done!

I've kind of gotten stuck this week, too. I figure I can't undo the sleeve and I am still unable to eat/drink much of anything without retching it all up. This is usually the point that I quit whatever diet I am on, but this is one I am unable to so... I have no choice but to keep on healing, keep on tracking and keep on walking the weight off.

I usually quit at this stage too but we can't now!! It's no good that you're vomiting. I totally understand how you feel though. I had been doing the same for the past 2 weeks too but it was because I was eating too quick. Maybe slow down your eating?!?! Worth a try!

I am 3 weeks post op today. I stopped losing at 1 week post op. For the past two weeks I've been at 185. I don't get it either...discouraging, yes. I see my surgeon next wed. She wanted me to lose another 10 - 15 lbs. I don't see that happening. I'm worried she will be disappointed.

Lipstick - that doesn't sound too good :( hope things ease up for u. I'm actually the opposite - im a bit worried I can eat too much (I'm in the purée stage). Everything I've tried goes down easily and the doc did tell me 'he took as much as he could' but because of the damage from my band he couldn't take as much as he would from a virgin stomach :( oh well, I'm ok if I'm a slow loser

Elliscoastie - let us know what your surgeon says. If your following their instructions I'm sure they can't be too disappointed, sometimes things just don't happen the way we expect but it's no ones fault :)

My scale stopped at 2 weeks and didn't move an ounce for 3 weeks... remember that your body has to adjust. Think about how much you are eating. It is impossible not to lose weight when you compare it to how much you were eating. I wanted to see it go down fast and it probably will but give your body time to adjust. After that stall, I didn't stall again for 7 months so it was well worth it! You are not going to be the only person this doesn't work for I promise! (I say that because that is what I thought!) Just try to relax and concentrate on learning about your new eating habits and it will come... off that is! I am sure we will see all of your tickers dropping soon! Just hang in there!! :D

I am not sure when my scale stop moving. I actually did not get a scale until a few months post op - now I am a daily weigh person. The scale, for me, stopped several times for several weeks. Just recently I have been stuck at 128 for about 6 weeks and then was at 125 for a few weeks. In the past 2 weeks I have lost 1 lb each week. My point is that the sleeve works, just be patient and keep following the plan. For what it is worth, I never even felt like I had lost weight until about 6 months post op - I was constantly discouraged so, for me, a large part was mental. I wish I had not worried so much. Good luck - this surgery is amazing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
