2 Days Post-Op -- is this pain normal?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved a little over 48 hours ago. I came home yesterday around noon.

Since being home my Water and Protein intake has not been good. Since being home I have had 3 oz of Protein shake total, and maybe 8 oz of Water. Even just a little sip causes great pain my stomach -- it's almost as if my stomach seizes up on me? I'm not sure how to explain it.

This pain also occurs at other times - not just after taking a sip. I'll be sitting on the couch and I can feel the pain building in my stomach, and then it "seizes" up on me, then immediately goes away.

Can anyone help me figure out what this pain is, and tell me whether or not it's normal?

Exact same thing for me!!! I think it may be just the stomach waking up!!! I've had 2 popcicles today with no problems :) the Water is not as easy... And the pain meds are VERY hard to get down.... Just keep pushing on... That's what I'm doing!!

I had the exact same thing and was freaking out. It is totally normal and will diminish. I'm now 5 days post op and while it still happens occasionally, it's not as intense. Hang in there --- it gets better, I promise. This is just the hardest part.

Same with me. I'm on day 6 and I feel on the "normal" side with just a "tummy ache." I still have gas build up and it hurts but I'm trying to walk and take gas x strips. Popsicles have been my best friend. It's the only thing I could tolerate. Water, shakes, soup... None of that was helping me.

I just got sleeved 3 days ago. I've been having these pains too but not too bad. My doctor said it's gas and it will go away like the other people have said. Just try and keep up ur Fluid intake

I have been sleeved for eight days now, and also experienced the same thing. My Dr told me not to worry about the shakes for the first few days and just to focus on Water intake. He also prescribed some anti nausea meds for me that really helped calm my stomach down and allowed me to get more fluids in. Maybe ask your surgeon if something like that would help? I promise is gets better, hang in there!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
