Decaf tea...can you have it after surgery ?

Recommended Posts

I gave up caffeine last Monday in preparation for surgery in 3 weeks. OOOO boy I didn't realize you could have withdrawls from caffeine! I am mostly over the headaches but I really miss the taste of iced tea. I drink..make that drank it non sweetened with lemon. I have my pre-op class on Wednesday so I guess I should be patient and wait until then..but I'm not patient so I thought I'd ask on forum. Do you drink Decaf tea after surgery ? If so .. or not...why and does it count as hydration since there is no caffeine in it ????

I drank Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus pretty soon after surgery. It sat well. I also drank Sleepy Time Chamomile tea. I counted it as a Fluid, since there is less caffeine than Decaf coffee, but every program is different.

I was served hot tea in the hospital right after I did my swallow test.

In my post-op diet program, I could have Decaf iced tea, but I just didn't choose it...If I had, like Lynda I would have counted it towards my Fluid intake

I had warm Decaf tea (love the fruity herbal varieties w/Splenda) and it helped me not miss my morning cup of coffee so much :) As long as it is decaf you should be able to include in Fluid intake.

Yes, yes and yes. Cold liquids were fine, but warm Decaf tea went down especially well as early as Day 2 post-op.

Warm liquids were a blessing for me as I couldnt tolerate cold liquids after surgery for a good month. I drink Decaf green tea or Sleeptime tea practically all day. Id say I drink decaf tea 90% of the time.

Thanks laners :) There are so many great Decaf flavors out there too, you can make iced tea with it too if you prefer something cold sometimes. Ill add a teaspoon of organic honey if I need to sweeten it up. Good luck with everything. 3 weeks will go so fast and youll be on the losers bench in no time. Just remember, if you can tolerate cold liquids right after surgery, try warm, it did the trick for me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
