Hello,

I was just sleeved on may 22nd. I am 22 years old and would love to connect with other young people getting surgery. Also, have you hearsay research on less chance of extra skin, because of elasticity in skin?

Well I am not as young as you are, I was sleeved on the 23rd. as far as the extra skin thing..I am sure I will have to have a Tummy Tuck in a couple of years...got to start saving right now.

I'm 23 and had surgery on the 23rd.. ive read age is a factor but so are a lot of other factors such as genetics, how fast/slow you lose, if you stick to the diet and exercise, how long you were overweight, etc.. Ive also heard of plenty of people who didn't need plastics after, some people are very impatient and do not let their body adjust (your skin needs an extra year or two to bounce back). Since I am young I would want to have kids before getting a Tummy Tuck but who knows I may change my mind

I think everyone should have hope but prepare their mind for plastics. I'm 20 and ill be 21 come surgery time but I've been fat since 13 and all my weight is in my stomach and boobs. I don't have the money for plastics so I hope my age is enough but odds are ill prob need a breast lift and a tummy tuck..I'm hoping my insurance will cover the tuck if I have enough problems but ill have to start saving now.

Yeah, I know a lot factor into it. I have hope that I won't have too much skin. I know I will have to have my boobs fixed because I have problems with my breast anyways. I am happy to get my weight under control young, but I fear that because if my age I have a long time to fall back unto old habits. Does anyone else have this fear?

A lot factors into the skin, but the fact of the matter is with having to lose over 200 lbs there is no way I won't be needed reconstructive surgery. Hopefully, you don't have so much to lose.

I think it's all about how you spin the situation. I look at doing this at a young age (25) is so much more beneficial than if i waited 10 or 20 years. So much life left to live, and this increases the quality of it exponentially. I've always felt if I could just get down to a normal weight, that I would have absolutely no problem maintaining it. I honestly have no worries about gaining it back once I lose it.

Thats exactly how I feel and im 23 just sleeved on the 28th and im from nj too woo lol but yeah at first I had my buyers remorse too I think it happends to all of us since its such an extreme step you take but as of now i dont even remember the pain. Ive.been handling this pretty well. As for skin I think it does depend on your age. At a young age your skin has more collagen and if youre older you should buy a cream. Also wear a body suit. I think its one of the best things you could do for this type of surgery. Especially me I have really fat arms. Thats what I got itll keep your body tight and in place as you lose those inches. It has helped me and my aunt says she can see them smaller even my belly without the droop After that if you still got some extra you can always do weights or final plastics.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
