At hotel Lucerna, sleeved tomorrow by Dr Rodriguez

Recommended Posts

Flew in this morning to San Diego ( the small and extremely tight squeeze further on airplane further helps me know I. Am making correct decision). Was picked up right on time by our excellent driver set up through Be Light Weight and he got us safely to our Hotel. Explored a little and went for some authentic Mexican food at the cantina 3 blocks from hotel. Just love hotel and Tijuana....thinking about a swim tonight . Get picked up tomorrow in morning to head to INT for surgery and the testing. My girlfriend who came along to support me is getting a full facelift on Wed morning at INT as well.

Hi everyone, day 2 report,,,,was sleeved yesterday and I was second to be done by doctor Rod. The care and attention were incredible. Hardest part for me was scooting my big body from hospital bed and back again after surgery. They say you usually take 1/2 hour in recovery but I took 1.5 hours because I just felt so groggy and comfy.

I feel pretty darn good....nothing to drink yet but at 8 this morning they say I can have ice chips. Had no pain at all from gas and was up and walking right away. Just a dull soreness on left side where most of the surgery must have taken place.

My friend leaves me this morning for her full face lift and they will drive her back to me tomorrow morning as we have flight back to Milwaukee early tomorrow afternoon.

OMG. She is flying tomorrow after a FULL facelift? I really hope that she has not bitten off more than she can chew. My GF looked like she had a car driven over her for two weeks. She said she hurt to even move.

My thoughts will be with you BOTH for a healthy, happy recovery. Hopefully your friend gives herself some time off when she gets home.

Glad your feeling so well.. I knew you were in good hands.

She's having full face lift and leaving so soon? I always thought staying a week was the norm?

Keep us posted, please

Continue to feel better. I am a little anxious about flying home but am ready to get home again. It is amazing that I have no hunger and am very satisfied with apple juice and tea that they started us on today at noon or so.

My friend made it out of her facelift and I was able to talk to her on phone and she is doing quite well. Tomorrow we meet back at my room in INT to get ready for our track home.

I am day 5 post sleeve and home from Mexico! One word of advice.....use the wheelchair service at the airport to get you to your gate and to any connecting flights....very important as you do 't want to miss your flight and right after being sleeved you just don't have the speed and endurance to walk. I feel really great and this is surprising me. No hunger and the fluids are satisfying me very much. I am subsisting on Popsicles, Water, broth, and Isopure. Only complication is swelling in hand of IV.

Today I am going grocery shopping and getting back to daily routine.

My friend is doing great and made it home just fine in great spirits after facelift. The cost was 6500 for a full facelift. She has a week of bed rest ahead of her and 2 weeks off work and driving.

Glad all went so well for you. Having surgery this Thursday. We purposely scheduled more layover time for this reason. It cost $100 more, but I have used US Air many times, and 1 time they over booked and I had 2nd degree burns on my legs from a severe sunburn in St Kitts. Had to spend a night in Philadelphia.....then the next time we made it clear across the terminal and they had the gate shut. We begged and this guy said our luggage was going to let us on. You think you have time but if a plane is late as ours was...a lady slammed the over head door and broke it so we were 45 minutes late...I also scheduled for the wheel chair service so I could get on the plane first with out stupid people hitting my belly with their bags.

Just got back from Lucerna! Nice hotel.

I was there for my full Mommy Makeover with Dr Neibles ( Niebles ) one month ago exactly!

It was the same weather while we were there!

Enjoy a swim and have a great surgery and a fast and healthy recovery!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
