I started a trial run with the Pre-op diet but I have been puttin fruit in it just to see if I would be able to stomach the protien. I must admit it has not been as bad as I thought it would be, haven't been as hungry or even really wanting much to eat. I have also started walking 30 min a day, so I am really hoping that that when I actually start the Pre-Op diet on the 29th it. won't be so bad.

Has anyone tried the diet befor hand and if so how did you do when u actually started your diet?

I'm scheduled to start my pre-op diet (anything I want to eat, just no more than 50g carb/day) on May 28th - that's 10 days prior to my surgery on June 7th. However, I chose to jump back into my good habits of wearing my FitBit and logging my food in MyFitnessPal to maintain a low calorie (1,000 calorie deficit) diet starting today. Essentially, I'll be 8 days low calorie, followed by 10 days of low carb before hittin' the anesthesia! I wanted to get my head in the right space moving into the pre-op diet - and I can do anything for 8 days!!

I started to replace Breakfast with a Protein Shake before the official pre-op diet started -- this way I could kind of ease in to it and it wouldn't be such a big shock!

I started the first phase of preop on Thursday. 2 weeks of 800 calories-less than 15 grams of fat and 30 grams of Protein, over 65 grams of protein. The trick is to find the right combination! I met with a friend of mine who had a gastric bypass while I was in the process of deciding whether to have surgery done, and she said the wisest thing which I remember in the moments of self pity when I really miss my coffee. She said "preop was the easiest diet I ever did because I knew that in the end I was NEVER going to gain that weight back."

@ LipStickLady, well that's a good thing that you always worked out. I'm just getting into the grove of walking 30 mins. LOL.... I feel really good about it all because I know that it's a tool to assist me on my NEW LIFE's journey.

@vsginnj - I Have done many diets like this before but always kept the coffee, and ya know, this is the FIRST TIME EVER I am without cravings and false hunger signals...so the headache sucked and the first couple mornings I was IN mourning, but the positive side effect has proven worth it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
