No I don't have a date yet, going through my PCP visits.

I was going to have surgery at Sentara but their after care program was outrageous. I decided to go with Bon Secours. They only want $120 dollars and that's for 6 1hr personal trainer sessions ( where can you get a personal trainer for $20 an hour?).

I could have saved a trip. But its all good. I'm looking at Sept- Oct if everything goes well.

****sorry if the typing comes out small. I'm using my app on my phone.****

That's great I have to get my PCP to give me my letters for clearance and my nutritional visit paperwork and then I can submit to the insurance company...I can't wait to get this started....

I went to the seminar in Newport News. I didn't know that you can go straight to the surgeon, but the seminar was an eye opener.

What I also like about Bon Secours is that the surgery scheduler collects all the paper work that's needed once you sign the release form. All I have to do is go to appointments and she does the rest. She pull my PCP visits on month 5 which is August and send everything in then. I'll have all other tests done by then and to get clearance from my heart doctor is just a phone call, so everything should be good.

I love my doctor, Dr. Salzberg made me feel more than comfortable.

Yea my PCP referred me to Dr. Clark and I went to his office "the center for weight loss" in Newport News and have been doing everything with them. It's really nice there they have there own insurance specialist and dietician. He does his surgeries at sentera but everything else all the appointments and consultations are at his office.... I have been trying to enquire more about the price of the surgery but they told me its all up to sentera and my insurance company. They do have a fee directly but includes all of your post of visit a monthly weight management thing where you weigh in, support groups and a whole bunch of other add ons.

I understand but I just couldn't swallow that $1,057 dollar price tag for their management system. The lady told me that I Must pay that and even though they break it down throughout the year why would I want to pay $269 and $69 dollars a month for things I can get for free with Bon Secours.

I looked at both packages and it just made more sense to me to only pay $120 for 6 1hr personal training sessions. I have dietician for life, shrink access for life and can see my surgeon whenever I need to, plus all their groups are free and open to all (no matter who does your surgery).

I wish you the best. I know how it feels when you have some one you're comfortable with. I'm just glad I looked into both programs before I made my choice.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
