So I had a total brain fart and curious how bad I screwed up.

I was feeding my daughter steak and she gave me the smallest bite known to man kind and I ate it not even thinking. I am only 5 days post op from the Vertical Sleeve, just making sure I am going to be okay.

Anyone else ever do this?

FYI - I feel okay, and it was seriously small. Just not sure how my digestive track will deal.

If you haven't found any discomfort then you are probably okay....many times, I'm not focused on what I'm eating and tend to take too big of a bite or not chew thoroughly before swallowing and I feel discomfort immediately.

PLease FOLLOW the DIRECTIONS you got from your DR...........OR you are set to FAIL!!!! seriously I have seen/ known several that did the surgery only to come home and start eating......... things we know we should not....... IF you do NOT follow the RULES, YOU TOO will fail...... Do NOT eat what you KNOW you are not suppose to eat...... it just is NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!

I think he was just asking if he'd be ok. I'm sure he got all the info from his doctor and knows what to do. It's just sometimes out of habit that we go to eat but then think OMG what did I just eat. It's not just a physical change but it's a mental process change! You'll be ok if there's no pain...just try and mentally think about everything you put in your mouth. Good luck!!!

agree with superchica...earlier today I was drinking some liquids while on the PC...I picked up the bottle and took a "swig" without even thinking consciously "sip sip sip"...I realized it almost immediately and was almost frozen with fear that I was gonna feel this huge pain...luckily, it went down fine...but like superchica said, you have to focus and always be mentally aware of what you are eating and drinking, tough as it is

If you aren't hurting, then you probably are okay. Your digestive tract didn't have the surgery. The stomach breaks down food and passes it on.

Take it easy, he only had a bite and did it impulsively. He didn't go out and have a full meal. It is easy sometimes to forget that you have had the surgery. I came in from cutting grass one day and had a huge drink of Water, totally not thinking and was hurting pretty good. It happens...

Thank you everyone. I do know what to do, just took the bite from my little girl out of habit. Just came back from a long walk and still feel good.

Just have to be even more careful!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
