I was actually considering Listerine Breath Strips that you simply place on your tongue and they simply dissolve... any thoughts?

As long as they are sugar free, they should be ok! Glad it worked out.

I think the reason they don't want you to chew gum at first is that for the first few weeks at least your stomach is so swollen, the opening is about the size of a coffee stirrer. So theoretically, gum could clog up that opening if swallowed. However, if you've already swallowed it and you are fine, plus the nurse said not to worry, I think you are in the clear. :)

That question was asked of a doctor at our support group. After ripping the lady who asked a new one for chewing gum in the first place, he told her to go on a liquid diet for 3 days so her system would "focus" on the gum. He said cold liquids were better than warm because it kept the gum hard. He didn't send her to the hospital or anything so it must not have been life threatening! Good luck!

in my post surgical info, it said to call my surgeon rightaway if i should swallow gum during the first six weeks. That sound scary enough for me not to touch the stuff. So, even if you're not in pain, still let your doc know asap. good luch!

I tried the listerine breath strips, but they were WAY too strong for me. I prefer a sugar free mint. Lifesavers makes a small bag of them and I like them. I haven't had gum just because I think I would swallow too much air which would lead to discomfort.

The Listerine breath strips are strong but I used them anyway. The monkey a$$ breath was even offending me. My poor little dog would want to come give my some cuddles but as soon as he got a whiff of my breath, he went a runnin!

Thanks for the laugh! I'll look into the strips tomorrow.

For now it's little disposable toothbrushes that have toothpaste sot of build into the, They are small, discrete and I can even get away with using them at my desk.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
