I see that you are in new York and there is a doctor in Columbia Presbyterian who does the surgery on adolescents you just have to do a 6 month weigh in with nutrition counseling. I did not go to this doctor but I hear he is a really good doctor I went to one in NJ because I did not want to travel anywhere else. I hope this info helps.

yeah i know, it was actually one of the first places i considered but im pretty sure they dont accept my insurance... i mean i didn't call em up and ask im a little shy but on their website they didnt have mine there. NY-Pres is one of the best hospitals in the nation so it bound to be super expensive, i think i can only use the doctors in network with fidelis :< my two closest options are aj chopra and angus lambros

HI! I'm getting sleeved TOMORROW! I'm 19 from NJ and I'm super excited! My doc wanted me to lose 30 lbs before the surgery and I've lost 34! I just finished my freshman year at Rutgers, so if anyone has experience with going through college with a sleeve please let me know!

My surgeon was Dr. Ragui Sadek from RWJ hospital in New Brunswick. I actually had a personal consultation with Dr. Trivedi when I was 16 about getting surgery but my parents weren't really on board at that time- he seemed like a great guy! College was definitely fun. I would suggest joining some type of club/activity as soon as you get there. Generally colleges have an involvement fair within the first week of school which can seem really nerve-wracking, but honestly write you name/email down on as many clubs as possible and join the ones you think are interesting.

Okay I love Dr. Trivedi he is an amazing doctor and was right by my side when I was in the hospital. I went to him when I was 16 to but at that point no hospital was allowing it until a week after my 17th birthday and it was all up hill from there. I cant wait for college and all the clubs that I wanna join. best of luck if you have any questions let me know. I will be 6months post op on June 21st, it has been a great experience with the sleeve best thing I ever did.

I absolutely LOVE college. For me the first semester was a weird transition. I go to school far away from my hometown, so it was weird for me not to see my friends and family from home all the time. Once I made it though the weird transition, it was seriously it amazing. I cannot wait to go back to school in the Fall.

My two biggest tips would be:

1. Try out all the extracurricula activities you can, until you find the ones that are best for you. I ended up going greek, and I never thought that would even be interested in that. I know its not the right choice for everyone, but it was for me.

2. Don't freak out if you don't find your new best friends on the first day. Everyone goes though a couple different groups of friends before they find the ones they click with the most. Just remember to be yourself, and to have FUN! :D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
