in need of new shoes

Recommended Posts

Don't know what area you live in so it's hard but I live in the Dallas area. We have several athletic shoe places that will fit the shoe to you. One is called Run on and the other Luke's Locker.

The idea is they will start you out in a few different shoes and you try on a lot until you find "the one" we get our shoes there and I have never came out the the shoe that I went in with the mind to get. Everyone's foot is different and the right one for you is not the right one for your friend. We have always been happy with everything we get there.

I'm sure there are places like that if you live near a city so that is what I would try.

Good luck, I'm sure you will put many miles on those shoes!

Try on a pair of Nike free 3.0. I love my Nike frees.

I just did my second 5K. The first one I wore old gym shoes I thought we good. Feet hurt. Then I invested in really good shoes. The brand is Brooks. The one's I bought are Brooks Revenna. I bought them at The Finish Line. Well - I LOVE THEM!!! This 5K was great! It was like walking on clouds! Such a difference. Well worth the $75. I wasn't a believer in paying that much. I am a believer now!!!!

I bought a pair of New Balance shoes. They have extra cushioning for comfort and they have arch support. They are so comfortable and good to run in

I've found Nike, Reebok and Adidas shoes either horribly over cushioned, or horribly under cushioned. If you get the Frees and you over pronate, say goodbye to your knees pretty soon, same with Vibrams and others like that. There's nothing wrong with them if your feet and knees accept them, but if you're in need of more/less cushion, may not be a good idea.

I'm a huge fan of Run On! I get all of my shoes there minus my hiking and biking shoes. I've never felt better about shoes in my life.

How much do you want to spend? *cheeky grin*

Asics, Saucony, Brooks

Ita that it's wise to be fitted in a well-reputed running/walking store if you're gonna spend 100$ on shoes! (Not those big box chain stores)

Nike are narrow in the toe box. NB has a good history and offer many options for width and soles. Adidas slide right off my heals. Puma's are fun and funky :)

I work out (aerobic) in asics. I've had Saucony and brooks. I walk around in Nike's and lift weights and run errands in Converse. lol.

It's very personal, IMHO.

I just invested in Brooks Adrenaline and after one workout I could feel huge difference. They're worth every penny. I overpronate and have bad knees and the support and cushion in these are wonderful.

Great to hear! They're on the list of shoes I'm considering right now, but I haven't had a chance to try any or get fitted yet.

My husband and I are both big New Balance fans I have never bought a pair I didn't like. I even bought a cheap pair of NB WT310BP at Kohls on sale last year for 39 and they are my faves right now as they are super light and they have that breathable mesh I wear them sockless and they feel awesome ! My husband was running 10-20 miles a week so I spent a bit more on his NB817s(older style his fave) they were around 110 I ordered from Amazon.< /p>

Ps. I guess I shoul have mentioned that the main reason I love NB is that there seems to be more room in the toe box and I am a weirdo about needing to be able to wiggle my toes freely to be comfortable in a shoe ;)

You might want to get 2 pair of shoes. Running/walking shoes are great for what they are designed for, but doing aerobics in running shoes will destroy them very quickly.

If I can't wiggle my toes, I feel like I am suffocating. Seriously. It's weird. Might be why I have to have one foot sticking out of the blanket at night.

You are not the only weirdo! :D

Try many different brands and styles on. I cannot take Sacconey, Asics, or NB's....my heel just feels like it's flat on the ground in all of these brands. Surprisingly, good old nikes have fit me the best for years. Any decent walking/running shop will let you test drive shoes before you buy. However, if you are very heavy and need a stability shoe (overpronater)...the best, and ugliest, shoe to buy is the Brooks Beast....they've made them for years, but bigger runners/walkers swear buy them. Best of luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
