What's in a Name

Recommended Posts

My original user name here was Aussie Chick. But I changed it to Chickie, because I am lazy, and Aussie Chick was just too long. Why Aussie Chick to start with? Because I am an Aussie Chick! LOL. My real name is Sam.

Hi, my real name is Sue but my online name has been Fanny Adams for years and years. It originally came from an online Dungeons & Dragons style game that I used to play (Ultima Online). I was making up the name of a new character and stuck for ideas. I remember thinking "I can think of Sweet FA for her name!" and the light went on

I like the ambiguity of the name - Fanny is a perfectly acceptable old British name but rather rude these days in the US and quite rude indeed in Australia (it means something quite different down under hehehe). It is also the real name of a little girl who got murdered in the woods in the US in the 19th century, which makes it quite suitable for the D&D game :)

I've used the name for so long online now, that I answer to Fanny just as readily as Sue, even in real life B)

Hello all - I'm wombat712. Or, Geneva. I got the wombat from my honeymoon to Australia. Since then my husband calls me his little wombat. And, 712 is my wedding anniversary. I've used this online for 16 years now ;)

Geneva, I like the reasoning!!! I often hear names in real life, especially between couples that make you wonder!!!

My DH refers to me as "Woman" so much, and his family HATES it! But years ago when we were 22 years old, and felt like children still a man he worked with ask him if I was his "woman" we both found it incredibly hilarious at the time, I was a girl not a woman---good grief, but he began jokingly calling me that, and it is to my ears the same as if he were to lovingly call me Sweetheart or something. When I came so close to losing him this last year, that was one thing I prayed for, just to hear him call me "Woman" one more time.....I bet you feel the same about being a little Wombat!!

Yep - it always brings a smile to my face :biggrin1:

I would be absolutely lost without him so I can only imagine what you went through coming so close.

Well, I am Lorraine in real life...but really, to those that love me, I am either Rainer or Rainy or Rain. Very seldomly does someone who knows me well call me Lorraine. As a child I hated my name because it seemed like an old woman's name...and to be honest, I still don't love it. I thought about that when I was naming my girls and named them relatively normal names...Julia, Megan (Meg) and Caroline (Carly).

Take care,

Rain

Love this thread - Will have to scan it from start to finish when I've got more time.

My real name is Diane.

TheGhost comes from the fact that the last name of my favorite Grandma (God rest her soul) was Casper. I always liked that name better than my maiden name and always felt an affinity towards Casper....THEGHOST because of it. It also has suited me as I've spent most of my life either depressed because I felt like I was or depressed because I was wishing I was, invisible.

A little off subject in highschool I use to frequently sign pictures with a symbol of a cube with a "-0" in it as I felt like a square peg who both a Social Zero as well as someone who was "too smart" getting no marks taken off much of my homework.

Sometimes I'd like to change my ID to something more related to the band or my evolving & blossoming life with the band but after 2 years I'm pretty stuck with this one.

um...Cindi? Now am wishing I used more creativity when signing up! DH has always used terms of endearment, rarely calls me by my name. Maybe he's forgotten! I, too, will answer to just about anything. Never really liked my name (popular in the late 1950's), but going by "Cynthia", well, let's just not go there. Momma works. Still answer to that from my 3 kids!

Hmmm...Interesting... Very Interesting... Do you lose your posting history and restart at zero count or does it just transfer all the history over?

Thanks for the info. I like TheGh0st most days but sometimes seeing other peoples interesting names I'm tempted to change mine to something more interesting.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
