I've just begun my VSG journey. Actually starting my 6 months of WW this Tuesday. I've read and read so many success stories, blogs looked at tons of before and after pictures. My only question is does anyone honestly regret having this procedure done? I'm not talking about the first few days or weeks while you're still adjusting I'm taking about months or years later? This is a huge decision for me so I wanna know the good the bad and the ugly, lol. I just thought it was strange that I haven't read one single story where the person says they regret their decision to have this done.

I am 3 mos. out today- haven't regretted it once. If anything, I wish I had it done sooner. Down -50lbs and 32 inches in 3 mos. (starting weight 265 and 40 yrs old)

Nope! Even with some post surgery complications, I would do it again in a second. One of the BEST decisions I ever made for myself!! (14 months out- lost 104% of my excess weight! = D)

I am 7 months out and my only regret is not doing this years ago. I am off most of my medications, sleeping better and my knees don't hurt all of the time. You will find a small percentage of people that truly regret this because of complications, so it is a big decision.

Sometimes it's best to tell as few people as possible until you've done it. It's your body, and your decision. If their concerns are whether or not you are ready, then show them you are ready. If they are concerned for you health, let them go to a consult or information meeting with you, or a support group even, where they can here stories from others.

My own mother desperately tried to convince me not to go through with my surgery and she still doesn't like that I did it, but she CAN now agree that I am in a much better and healthier place in my life!

I think that if you type the word "regrets" in the search box located in the upper right, you'll get a fair number of responses about people having regrets. I urge you to do this, and see the other side of the coin. For the most part, the majority of people that post here are happy with their choice, but there are some that have a different view. If you are learning about WLS, it is important for you to understand what the regrets might be. This is a permanent choice, you won't go back to where you were previously. You can easily have your stomach cut out and loose just a little weight. You might not make the lifestyle changes needed and actually gain weight. There will be some food items that you simply won't be able to eat or tolerate. Those things are you should read through in those posts. Those regrets are very real and can happen. Most folks are able to follow the post op directions, change their eating habit and make the lifestyle changes and do fine. Some have complications not of their own doing. Some didn't have the right expectations of the surgery or didn't have the proper support system in place to be successful. Lots of things can cause folks to have regrets. Again, take a look around using the search box, this should be a key part of your research. Good Luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
