What did you do in the weeks leading up o surgery?

Recommended Posts

So I've done all the admin stuff... Have a date (may1st) scheduled prep with surgeon, pre op clearance with primary cleared my days with my job... However started making a list or environmental changes...

First on the list - purge pantry, fridge and freezer . I still don't think I'm mentally prepared but funding that are to do without being there. I've made a list of activities to do to transition into physical activity again and spending free time that's not cooking or eating. Also on my list is shopping for supplies. Trying out shakes and approved liquids... Reviewing prep documentation from hospital.

What else? Opting not to share with many. -hubby, mom, manager and neighbors know... That's it. What am I missing? What ave you done to prep?

I haven't done it yet, but one thing I'm going to do is get down any old, smaller size clothes that are in boxes in the attic. I want to pull out as many useable things as I can & get them washed & ready. I know I won't be in them for awhile & would have plenty of time to do that after surgery, but there's just something about doing it beforehand that I think will help to calm any last minute jitters.

Ate like a mother f*&$%r.

Hahahahaha! Very funny Jeff! I have to admit, I did do one funeral meal, drove 1.5 hours up north to get it too! LOL!

I like the idea that SouthernSoul shared about getting older smaller clothing ready. I should do that too but I've been doing it mentally. I have clothing in several different smaller sizes but most were work clothing (classic type suits) when I worked in Beverly Hills, CA. Not much of what I'd be wearing around my house now as a stay at home mom in the mid west, you know? But there are a few things I can wear. At least it will help get into the mind set of having the sleeve done & becoming a healthier, smaller sized person!

It sounds like you're already pretty well prepared! I've heard your best friend for the ride home will be a small pillow to hold against you for your drive home or if you sneeze or cough...so be sure to find one & pack it first!

I've been cleaning and organizing. I just bought small 1/2 cup and cup sized containers to store my food in. I've also been having my "last meals" of my favorites. Although I know technically this isn't forever it's still a process to say goodbye to my safety net and BFF since I was 5, food.

I ate lots.. I had my lap and removed in March and was able to eat things I hadn't in 5 years.. I went in for my sleeve on Apr 9th and had gained 20 pounds since the surgery in Mar. I'm post 6 days post op and don't regret my Goodbye food party.. It was delicious!, down exactly 20 pounds today so I'm back to where I started. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!,

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
