Lots of different views but for the most part it has to do with the fact that it can act as a diuretic and keeping hydrated in the beginning is essential. Also' date=' it can cause acid relfux. That is my understanding.[/quote']

Thank you.

What does anyone think of Lipton green tea (diet citrus) in the bottles? I'm addicted to it and that would be really hard to give up.

My surgeon really stresses icing up the 2 C's-- carbonation and caffeine.

My NUT said caffeinated coffee is fine. I have been drinking it every day since I was 3 weeks post op. Heaven!

I haven't tried coffee but had reg tea. It makes my sleeve feel weird for just a sec after I drink it and then it's ok....kinda weird feeling. I attribute it to the caffeine cause it's the only time it does it.

I do something similar, but add some unflavored Protein powder. I've noticed if I let it cool, add the Protein, let it set for a while and heat it back up, I can NOT taste the protein at all. It takes a few mins for the protein to take on the flavor if the coffee

I make a Protein shake out of a mocha espresso Protein powder! Blend ice, milk and powder. Tastes like Starbucks frappicino and has 17 grams of protein. Same caffeine as a grande coffee. Love it on my morning commute!

I also make a Mocha out of chocolate Protein Powder and throw the rest of my cup of coffee that I don't drink add a little skim milk and my oh my it's good!

I'm really going to have to try that but I live alone and never make coffee for just me. I've never had instant coffee...wonder how it tastes? Will it dissolve in cold Water? Hmmm...

I had it on my diet diary every time I saw my NUT and she never told me to curb it. I agree with other posters that it will depend on how you tolerate it after surgery. Just like anything else, if you can tolerate it, then have it. You won't be able to drink as much as pre-op anyway.

I think the biggest concern within a month of surgery is that you don't want to drink a diuretic during that time since getting your fluids in is hard enough right after surgery.

I do still plan to drink coffee, but I'll switch to Decaf for a month after surgery, then half caf, then back to regular, as I can tolerate.

one cup with ff milk, one splenda. as with my liquids...it often comes right back up, but i am so use to vomitting, its worth it. my fluids come from flushing my J tube mostly. and i have had a sip or two of a blended, yummy cold coffee drink. i am 7 months out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
