I am not a food addict per se. Three things have caused me to overeat.

1. Letting stress get to me which makes me not give a crap about eating healthy.

2. Eating out of boredom. I eat horribly when I'm sitting home alone on the computer.

3. Going through menopause at 32 which royally screwed up my hormones and metabolism.

Because of these things I have gotten into some bad habits that without the surgery will not get modified.

So I'm my opinion, good is not an addiction, I'm just too tired and stressed to care most days. :-)

That's good that you don't have an addictive relationship to food!

What made you choose sleeve surgery?

I mean what components of the surgery Appeal to you?

Tune in next week on the Dr. Laura show when Dr. Laura asks Michelle Obama if she was once a man....or would like to be.

I have to do something due to the ultra high risk of diabetes and heart conditions that run in my family. I took a good look at the lap band because one of my best friends had it done and has had success with it. I liked that it was less permanent than the other options. The things that turned me away from it were the constant having to go fill/unfill it to get it to the right size. I was also in the AF for 9 years and have had thoughts about going into the national guard. You can't really do that with the lap band due to them not always having someone who can take care of the band for you. Can you imagine being in Iraq and needed a saline fill? Anyway, I have thought about it for a number of years, and my insurance finally approved the surgeries this year.

I think the hardest part for me will be the picky eaters I have living with me. It's already hard to eat healthy when my boyfriend won't eat most vegetables and our roommate can't stand "naked meat". It's enough to drive you crazy.

Well yes I think the sleeve is a much better option for you.

It's also important to work on your issues of stress eating and eating out of boredom.

There are many people here that fall into eating "around" the sleeve after a couple of months when eating becomes much easier for most, and also when people discover "slider" type foods.

I feel my problem with food was (is) severe

When I ate it usually wasn't because I was hungry.

So it makes it a challenge for me, but not everyone.

Oh and the boyfriend? He's a big boy you let him take care of himself and you concentrate on taking care of yourself! :)

Ok! My husband thinks I'm crazy when I'm chuckling on some of the posts. The movie 42 was great! I drank my Decaf tea with berry crystal lite and ate my Protein Bar. I really had to"pee" by the end of the movie though !!!

Who would of ever thought that we would look at a protein bar as a treat! Hehehe..

Glad it went well :)

My weight has been at a major stand still this last couple of weeks but my eating is not feeling as desperate as it was a week ago, it's funny how some days or weeks are easier than others.

My food cravings have been alot less these past few days, too. Maybe it's the cycle of the moon!! But I'm also wondering if it could be tied to the fact that I ran out of Vitamin Water (my favorite drink...which happens to have carbs). Whatever the reason, I'm so grateful for relief from the craziness!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
