Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Sunnysea~I don't blame you for finding a closer Dr. for fills, that was a scary trip! I am glad that everything worked out and that you are doing well. Thank you for the well wishes, I will post tomorrow (if I'm not balling too much...either way the news goes...relief or sadness).

Anita~I know what you mean! I should be calling to make my appointment for a bridge or whatever he will put where that HUGE tooth was extracted! Just more $$$$ I think I'll put it off for just a little while longer...and the scale thing...mine went missing! I can't find it. I think when I was cleaning for the Graduation party I must have hiden it somewhere and now I can't find it. Could be a good thing...LOL I think I lost some brain cells along with my pounds!

Happy Thursday to ALL!!!

Mal, you are too funny about your scale!

Woofay - here's to teeth. I'm remodeling a bathroom and think oral surgery might be better alternative (just kidding). It is lousy to spend money on something that nobody else sees. But I understand that your mouth can predict your health, so you deserve a healthy body you know.

Yeah - isn't it great that it is summer? When I was teaching the week after school was out I was a whirling dervish of activity, then something happened and I'd go catatonic for a month. Wow! You'll be able to read the paper in the morning, or a book, or shop during the day. Yeah!

About the scale -

Since I don't have a normal relationship with mine, mine is up on a shelf, but I longingly worry and lovingly miss it often.

I have official weigh ins at Slim4Life (which wasn't for life for me, I lost 40 then regained it faster last year) - but they still owe me weeks, so I will use their scale as another support system. I go every Monday.

I am sitting too much. So I have to "move it sista" if I'm going to lose weight. Since I retired I've adapted this more sedantary lifestyle, which has gotta go.

I am looking so forward to seeing you all at Red Robin next Wed.

Hugs and positive thoughts too all my bandsters.

Amazing how close I feel towards you all.

tropicana - I don't think he does either. He did say the 38 or above with other medical problems was the criteria he looked at for me... but then everyone has their own reasons. You might call and ask.

Drews - how ya doing?

Drews - how ya doing?

I'm doing fine. Just trying to get through the rest of this damned work day so I can go home and ice my achin' knee!

You are seriously kicking ass with your weight loss girl! I am really proud of you! I need to get my butt back in gear once the knee heals up and I can excercise again. I have gained about 8 pounds here in the past few weeks! Yikes!

I am soooo looking forward to next Wednesday!

I can't wait until Wednesday either. I am even thinking, now what should I wear, like this is a date of something. Gees. I gotta get a life.

Smiling here when the dogs aren't barking,

Michelle

First, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude for Mark and his comments/suggestions/referrals...you're long-winded like me! What can I say, I like the sound of my voice (be it oral or written!) I also have to admit that I'm a snob and I really DO say the most important things!

Like a newbie idiot, I started trying to read this thread at page one! HA! It took me a couple of hours to get to page 22! (Slow internet connection in Nome!) So here I am at the end...hoping against hope that I haven't missed any important information.

I have my consult w/ Dr. K on Monday 6/4, Nutrition consult on Monday 6/11 and surgery on 7/10. It'll be a quickie trip for the surgery, but my sister is coming with me - someone has to deal with the whining! I WAS planning on Mexico, but thanks to Mark and his referral I'll be staying in the states...something I wanted to do anyway.

I've been looking into the surgery for over six years now and finally decided that I needed to do it. I have a very supportive husband (even though he knows when I lose weight I lose my boobs first! Gotta love him!) who's letting me spend our precious money on this! I'm appreciative of this message board (even though it took this college educated, self-titled genius to figure it out!) and the help herein.

And for those of you who want to know....Nome - about 400 miles west of Fairbanks (which is in the center of Alaska). Snow is gone finally. Mosquitoes are out. Fishing and hunting is/are good. People are fun. Yes, it costs an arm and a leg to live here (say $7.85/gal milk, $1.79/lb for bananas, rent for a three bedroom ~ $1600), but so far I'm liking it and I've lived in the state for over 27 years! Yeah, I must be sick or something! LOL!

Welcome Marcy!!! Congrats on choosing a great surgeon!

Holy crap... 7.85 for a gallon of milk? And here I was bitching about paying 3.21 for gas this morning!

Happy End-of-the-school-year to all educators! I'm at work and wrapping up the last of my desk items. Woo Hoo! SUMMERTIME.

Hello Marcy in Alaska. YIPES...$7 for milk??? WHOA. Must be like ordering a cocktail at a restaurant. But Alaska is amazing. I was there last summer. You live in a wonderful state. Good luck on your surgery and all that it entails.

Hello Friends! Great to always read your kind words on here and your encouragement to eachother.

Drew hope that knee is coming along alright. Such a bummer when that which gets us around in life is on the lamb.

Michelle that picture is amazing of you.

Oh, ((groans)) I feel so fat!

Sunnysea I hope you are doing well my friend. I still have my photo of us in Dr. K's office the day before my banding. That is my last fat picture!

Everyone have a great day! SUMMER SUMMER SUMMERTIME.

Drew - yeah, we joke about how it would be cheaper to just drink gas (it's running about $4/gal)! I wonder what the FDA would say? I'm envious of your roller derby involvement. I watched that show "Roller Girls" and got the itch to dye my hair and wear some skimpy plaid skirts! My husband would've liked it! God once told me not to put my butt over my head so I try to heed his advise (note that I call it advise and not a commandment) and never learned how to be on skates with confidence. Oh well!

marcyinak -

Welcome!!! We love having you here. Well, you can give us your view of the midnight sun through words and pictures. It is something I've always wanted to see. The Northern Lights as well. I have seen them when i was in Seattle, but with the light pollution and angle it wasn't as spectactular as it will be from Nome. I gather that you are doing most of the stuff with Dr. K on the phone, otherwise I was going to extend and invite to our get together on June 6th.

Well, you do have to pay and arm and leg for milk and fresh veggies, etc. I thought Alaska was a romantic place and have visited Anchorage and gone on a cruise through the inland passageway, lovely. So much wildlife and raw beauty. I imagine it is getting more civilized as the population grows.

Have great weekends everyone!

Mal - Yiippeeeeee X 2!

So glad that all is well. He is a good surgeon. So, did he fill you? I am not having a fill until mid July because of many trips and visitors. At least you got the thumbs up!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
