My friend Ann who is traveling to CO with me for my surgery is not going to be able to come with me tomorrow. Her dad had a car accident and is not doing well -- the injuries from the wreck were not life threatening -- cracked ribs and lacerations, but he's elderly and in poor health and has had complications bilateral pneumonia, pulmonary emboli and deep vein thrombosis. His oxygen saturation has been poor even with 100% oxygen delivered via face mask. Things don't look very good. I am waiting to hear back from her. He was driving after she had already taken his keys away weeks before, found a spare set and took off. She found him im the hospital.

I've rescheduled my surgery to 9/19. Honestly, I'm just selfish enough to be disappointed; I was so ready to be banded this week. But, it is what it is. And my band is so small in comparison to what my friend and her dad are dealing with this week.

My husband encouarged me not to change the date and said we'd all (the 4 of us) just come to CO, but my kids just started school today and buying 2 more tickets at last minute prices is just not in the budget.

Anyway. Please pray for my friend Ann and her Dad/family. :think

Thanks.

Shelbi my thoughts go to your friend. A purpose for everything, it just isn't revealed sometimes for a while.

Shelbi,

My thoughts and prayers go out to your friend Ann and her father. I hope everything turns out okay.

I am scheduled for my surgery with Dr. K on Sept 18th (one day before you). I am looking forward to my band date like a kid looking forward to Christmas morning. It is okay to be disappointed. I certainly would be. It doesn't make you selfish or a bad friend. :car:

Best of luck to you. Maybe I will see you in Colorado.:whoo:

Nicnaknut, I think I found the right thread.

Hi All. I'm a potential serious Dr. K for the lapband. Anyone know when the snows and ice begin in Denver CO area?

NM Sunshine...:welcome: to the Dr K thread..... It generally starts cooling off in Colorado towards the end of October and then in November it can do most anything.. It can be like late Fall, cool but comfortable or it can snow and freeze.. December can be similar, but it generally starts snowing and freezing by then... This is just my recollection... Dynamo, Mal and Woofay would know for sure...

Hey everyone! I am posting again after reading so much and getting messages before...I am officially on the "bandwagon", have some questions from my ever thinking mind, and could just use the support and encouragement

My phone consult with Dr. K is this Friday morning, then Paula in the afternoon. I am officially scheduled for surgery at 1pm on Sept. 11th....so exciting and so scary, kind of like having a baby, but no middle of the night feedings :rolleyes !!

So...were any of you "exercisers" before surgery? I have always been allergic to exercise (tee hee!) and am psyching myself out to get off my rear and get boogying! Have you done well changing your exercise lifestyle?

And, I will be starting the preop diet in a week or so (I think), I am so committed and excited for this new journey! But....before that, I find myself eating that bowl of ice cream, having that extra enchilada, etc.:hungry: because I know it will change quick! Is that ok? Am I setting myself up for failure by indulging now?

Is anyone going to be at Dr. K's on Sept 10th or 11th?

Hope to hear back

you guys are awesome!

Hello Friends:

I am planning my trip to Denver. I need a fill but decided I would not go to the Fill Center this time. I believe I need to see Dr. K. He has a surgeon's touch and I believe so very much in him.

I was looking at coming out when the leaves change. I have not seen colored leaves on trees since 1987. I was going to take my son, my husband and myself out there. The question is do I go in October or do I go in November the week of Thanksgiving ( I have the whole week off )? I will yield to my girls in Colorado for advice.

Is anyone having no problem (if you catch my drift) going potty #2 as in "everybody out!! This exit, 2 minute warning!!" ?? I have switched to eating Gingersnaps, thin ones, low cal but very strong in ginger, to slow down the process and ease my stomach. It does help but I would appreciate feedback.

My original posse: Mal, Woofy, Michelle, I miss you all so much.

I very much could use a hug around your neck!!! You all are on my heart.

Patty

Oh Lap dancer - Here are hugs back. I love hearing from you. The leaves are iffy and depend on when the first snow comes. In town, October is usually best, but in the mountains by the end of September, the aspen are usually pretty done. Correct me Colorado girls if I have this wrong. Personally, I will be gone the last half of October (16 - 31), so selfishly, I don't want you to come then. I am going to Mexico, Puerto Moreles specifically, my cousin has a condo right on the beach, it is 20 minutes south of Cancun. I was watching what Hurrican Dean would do, and everything is still fine, my cousin reported, - so it is a go unless, it gets swept away in the next one.

So, I think you need to plan the trip to help you, maybe a long weekend would work as well. Just let us know and we'll try and be there for you.

Woofay - hugs sweetie, I hope the rain on Saturday didn't get you too wet.

Mal - glad you are back in the world of the living.

Welcome Wanttobemeagain!

Inezdenver - Whoo hoo - don't get down on yourself. This is a process and I'm so glad you are moving forward. I fight my old self and patterns every day. What I realize is that I can't give up. The band helps remind me of what I commited to and what I deserve.

Hugs all,

Michelle

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
