I was sooooo happy and brave until 9pm, I am doing the Hibiclens and beginning to realize I'll be in surgery, that I have elected, tomorrow. OMG

I appreciate all the warm wishes, and if you can spare, a prayer or two wouldn't hurt. I hope I'll be posting tomorrow night or on Tuesday.

Positive thinking will take the day. Just soaked in the hot tub, laundary, dishes cleaned and put away. I'm ready.

We're gonna rock this town, Denver!

Hi Everyone,

Well, today's the day for LapDancer and me.

I feel strong, healthy and ready. I talked with the anethesiologist last night. He sounded kind of harried and young; dogs barking in the background and he kept telling them to be quiet; but he got all the vital information and I think he'll do a good job. We know Dr. K will do his best. I just want to not be sick and I know I've done everything I can to accomplish that.

I feel ready. I'll post when I am back on the computer.

Good luck LapDancer. Maybe I'll see you, I am at 9 am.

OKAY! LET'S GET BANDED!

Hey Woofay,

How are you doing today? I can hardly wait to be on ther other side of the band! My family and friends made all these plans for this summer (over the weekend) and I am soooo nervous that I am going to break the band rules...every get together is surrounded by food and drinks!! And some of the events they planned are going to be while I am going to be on the pre op diet, surgery AND recovery...YIKES. I haven't told anyone about the surgery, I guess that would of been a good time?? I told one of my cousins because I knew she would be supportive and understanding. I kind of wish that I could go away for a year!! I really think this is going to be tough for me....really tough!

Anyway...I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of ya' and I hope your recovery is going well.

Howdy, Mal. I'm doing better every day, thanks! I was able to sort of lay on my side to sleep last night, woo hoo! I can't sleep very well on my back.

Don't be too nervous about breaking the rules. This is something you want and I don't know about you, but I was self pay and that amount of money really helps to keep you on track. I even went to Vegas and managed to keep it right (lordy I wanted a cold beer so bad!).

I don't know what to tell you about all the family events though. My family has always had everything revolve around food. Good times, celebrations, new babies, holidays, even funerals have tons of food and booze. I guess we'll just have to take it one event at a time and not look at the long term of how many we will have to make it through. That was my Mom's whole objection to this surgery. She doesn't know what else to do with me but feed me. I know that I am 38 now, but I'm really close to my mom and she truly loves me with food. We'll have to learn some card games or start some crafts like scrap booking or something instead of sitting around eating goodies and talking!

If you've come this far, you can do it. Just making the decision to do it and realizing that you gotta lose some weight for your health is the big step. People are stronger than they think and the people here also help bunches! So don't worry!:)

Tater!

OMG girl! I just read this thread this morning (I'm not online much on the weekends). You have been through quite the ordeal my friend. Your situtation has reaffirmed to me (again!) that I made the right choice with Dr K. He really cares about each and every one of us, doesn't he?

Woof... Welcome to bandland girly!! The opsite over the incisions itched me like the dickens... try some benadryl!

Dynamo... you are in my thoughts! post when you can and let us know how you are!

spa-chic... congrats on your surgery date!

I hope I didn't miss anyone. You all make me so proud!! :clap2:

Thanks Woofay,

It took me a very long time to get this far. I chickened out about four years ago(with the gastric bypass...thank goodness). I started about Jan of this year and it took me this long to get my consult and then finally my date! I know that I need this badly and I have always been able to follow a plan, but for how long??? Yes I am self pay and I do feel terible about taking the money for myself because I have always been about giving to others, so taking the money for myself has been a hard thought to swallow. Once I have paid the money, there will be no turning back!! (yikes). My family is very supportive and they want me to be happy, so they are okay with me using the money...I have a 17 year old preparing for college$$$ and a 12 year old, they both know how much this means to me and my health. I wonder if they realize the amount of cutbacks this means...

We are going to Vegas in June and I will be on the liquid diet then (booo) I have accepted that, I think??? I hope I can stick with it...

Thanks again for the words of encouragement. I just love this place!!

Have a great day!!! I hope you are healing quickly!!

Lapdancer and Dynamo!!!

Lots of prayers and good will has been and will continue to be sent your way! Everything will go wonderfully for you ladies! I have been nameing you out in my prayers every night I the first thing I did this am was to say another one for you.

Looks like they might try to get me in at 9 am on Wed or 3 pm on Thurs. I am so hoping for Wed... that way if there are any issues it will be during the day... also not have to drive at night. My throat feels lots better.. not sore or anything.. my mouth is still.. but with popsicles and ice... the swellon is slowing going down.

My DH (yea.. I finially figured out some abbrivations) is all worried because he cant get off of work on Wed... but my mom can take me down. Wed would be best for most of the work schedules as well as my daughters school schedule. So... keep your fingers crossed that I can get Wed.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
